A basic tour to China that's cheaper than a round-trip ticket to China! It includes 8 nights' accommodation and it even has the trip to The Great Wall in itinerary.

Only for specific dates in November 2019. This is a per-person-double-occupancy price.

I think this may be one of those forced shopping tours

Just found out that this is the same tour company as the one on Groupon and same deal on eBay as in GROUPON, except that Groupon has that deal expired and this current eBay deal can only benefit folks leaving from SFO.... FYI previous deal posted:

Note that by buying, you are committing to leaving SFO at any time on all of the following dates in November as per their availability/discretion: 11, 18, 19, 25, and 27. You have no way of knowing which date(s) are still "available" until they contact you, after you pay.

Important excerpts from the listing:
Quote :
"When you make your purchase, you must agree to travel on any of the above dates for this journey to China. You can select any of these dates based on availability and first-come-first-booked basis. The earlier you buy, the more certainty you can travel on your preferred date on this list when we contact you immediately after your purchase."
Quote :
Price is for one person and is based on double occupancy share-room basis.
If you are traveling alone and expect single occupancy accommodation arrangements, additional expense shall apply.
Quote :
China visa fee, tour options, upgrades and gratuities are not included. You will have to apply for your own tourist visa as your personal expense or we can help you to obtain your visa for your worry-free travel at nominal cost. Gratuities for guide(s) and driver(s) are personal but expected courtesy during the tour. We suggest you may set aside $100 per person for this tour as a contingency. Tour upgrades and options as listed for your preview are not included in this price.
Quote :
All sales are final. There is no refund. Change of travel date after booking or single-room occupancy throughout the tour will incur additional costs.

I went to a very similar trip (through LAX) from I believe the same travel company (China Travel in Diamond Bar, Calif) 5 years ago. I brought it through Living Social for around $1,300 back then which I thought was an excellent deal since regular airfare alone (including from Shanghai to Beijing) would be $1,000 already. It was a great trip with excellent hotels & tour guides and we got to see a lot. They stopped at 4 to 5 shopping places but there were no pressure for us to purchase things. When we were done looking around the shops, we just went back to the bus. But I have heard there are other tours that pressure people to purchase things.

I took this trip last December through this company, Intertrips. Even the hotels listed were the same. The difference was I flew out of LAX and it included Xi'an. Although there were quite a few factory tours (jade, silk, tea, pearl, teapot, medicine), it was not forced buying like I have heard in the past. You just have to hang around until everyone is done buying. I paid $699 plus $120 for gratuity. Many of the optional tours can be done for much less if you use public transit (subway, bus). For instance, the Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City tour can be done for under $10 including admission. I paid full price, but some of my group mates were smarter.
