Frigidaire 70 pint Dehumidifier FAD704DWD
Open Box Excellent Condition $166.99 save $71
2 year service agreement $34.99

Been searching for a dehumidifier for the basement. This seemed like a great deal with the 2 year agreement since if they quit working it is around the 1 year mark. Open-box items typically have the normal return policy at Best Buy if you wanted to roll the dice.

I just wheeled this exact same model out to the curb for trash pickup. Barely made it a year. Just out of warranty, naturally. Frigidaire is disposable garbage and never getting another penny of mine.

I've read a lot of negative reviews about a lot of brands. I picked up the 2 year plan through Best Buy, still cheaper than NIB.

Do you have any other recommendations of a $200 70 pint dehumidifier? Seems like a lot of them die around the 1 year time frame.

I just bought a Hairer. Never owned that brand so we'll see. It's all Chinese junk anyway.

I've been using this dehumidifier I bought from Amazon for 1.5 years, it hasn't died yet.

FWIW, Costco had a different model Whirlpool 70-pint dehumidifier on sale last week for $169 in store ($179 online). Online reviews were typically meh, but not terrible. I'm done buying these things anywhere else. If it craps out, I'll just use their return policy. Boom, done.

Same. Frigidaire model FAD704DWD
Dead literally 2 days ago.

Died, in that now it runs non stop and will not shut off. Sucks for a $200+ item to only get 2 years out of it.

Same, mine collects about an inch of water in a day. I have two other Frigidaires from 20 years ago. Buckets are full on those everyday. But I want one to run continuously to the drain.

never buy a dehumidifier with a built in pump. they use very cheap parts and will fail in a short period of time. if you need to pump the water out (into a sink or outside) get a condensate pump (little giant models are about $40-50) and just run the dehumidifier drain into it. they will last for many years as they are built specifically for that purpose.

Can you just get an external pump in the internal one dies?

Probably not because if the built in pump isn't running, the board detects that and the whole thing doesn't run.

I have a Fridgidaire from Best Buy that sort of died after a year. Throws an F0 code but will run again if you unplug and plug back in. As a work around, I used an mechanical timer and so it's basically unplugging it every hour. Not sure if this will work long but it seems to be working

Thank you. I'm sold on no pump.

A reviewer on Amazon detailed his fix for the dreaded F0 error.

How about you connect it through a plug (/switch) that you can turn on/off via remote (IR/wifi) to control the runtime?
