Received an in app notification from Audible for a free trial if I returned. 30 day trial, starting with 2 free audible credits (only 1 if you don't have a Prime membership FYI) and 2 free audible originals. Basically the same deal as they currently offer for new customers, but don't need to go through any hassle of making alternate accounts or anything.

From what I can tell this must be done in app - there was a large banner when I opened it. I'm assuming this was targeted, but perhaps anyone who has had an account in the past and cancelled is eligible.

It is not working for me right now. I canceled some time in 2018 I believe, but I am not getting the same message as others about previous free trials. Instead I am getting an error message, "We are sorry! We can not complete this purchase

An error occurred while purchasing this content. Please try again later."

Will try back later I guess. Just sharing in case others experienced this. On Android phone, and it happened after clicking start free trial.
For those who receive that error message, I contacted customer support and they gave me the two free credits and enabled the trial for me, prior customer as well. Just wanted to add some more data points.

"Only new customers are eligible for a free trial
We're sorry, it appears you have already taken a free trial this past year. Please add a different payment method or start your paid membership."

So does that mean after 1 year from last quitting I am back in business?

Worked on my wife's account. Is there any way to gift a book to my account? Currently says unable to gift books on a trial membership.

I wish they would just make the monthly fee a more reasonable $7-9 a month. Then, I would happily remain a member.

It might be relevant to know how long it had been since you last cancelled, if this worked for you.
Canceled in Oct. 2018, still no dice for me.

Didn't work for me either. Cancelled my membership two or three months ago. Bummer! I'm really missing Audible but too cheap to pay full price.

You cannot gift trial credits, however if you sign up for Amazon Family Library, books from either audible account show up and you can download from either login. Otherwise just log her into audible on your device and download.

Mine shows an offer for one audiobook and two originals with a one month free trial. I've done numerous trials in the past.
Same here. 1 audio book is better than nothing I guess. I've never paid for it and have like 7 star wars audio books from the trials.

Went ahead and preordered the November Star Wars book and got the Nick Offerman Original and a random other one I probably will never listen to.

Honestly, none of these things are worth the hassle/risk of being charged and trying to get your money back. While Audible is not that hard to get a refund on a charge, the business model is still the same: get you to sign up with a free month of service, then hope you continue after being charged because it's too much of a pain to cancel. To me, it's the subscription-based equivalent of mail-in rebates.
It's so easy to cancel Audible through their website. The only risk is that you forget. It's totally worth the non-existent hassle.

I've never subscribed, and I'm seeing the same thing.

And if you forgot to cancel do you really feel bad paying for 1 month after probably got 5+ free months from previous deals lol.

Not you just the rhetorical "you" lol

Just cancelled yesterday, and tried this - unfortunately does not work as it shows that I've had a membership in the past year.
