Good deal if you are looking for a gaming machine for someone. If anyone is interested, I re-built this machine in PC Parts Picker using the cheapest items from every category, and it came out to $619 without an OS, keyboard, mouse, or CD-rom drive:

So for $20 more, you get the machine built for you + Windows 10 + keyboard + mouse + CD-rom drive. Good deal if you were already looking to buy/build something similar.

But definitely buy extra RAM if you buy the Acer deal. Even 4GB will make a difference, but 8GB is cheap enough.

Without knowing what your laptop specs are, it's hard to tell for sure, but most likely this will be much faster. I would personally go for a system with more cores, as video editing could benefit from that.

Also, this has an ssd which is great from speed perspective but it's only 256GB which won't fit a huge amount of videos.

There were deals recently with ryzen 2700x, rx580, 16GB of RAM and 256 ssd/1tb hdd for $700.

This computer will work for just about anyone who wants a PC for general use, Photoshop and some gaming. My only complaint is I could not gain access to the NVme SSD because it's placed under the disc drive, which can only be removed by opening the front chassis. The problem is the back portion of the case is bolted down and can't be easily removed which prevents you from removing the screws on the front. If you don't care about that though, this thing is a killer deal.

Is this a good deal not going to play games but want to use this for editing 4k videos and photoshop. In a laptop the 4k video takes a whole lot of time

Yep that's why looking for a desktop, more raw processing power for less money and greater expandibility. So is this a good buy?

B&H collects sales tax in 23 states I believe. So "many" is around a half?

Desktop or laptop? I have an older latitude e7450 with a 5th gen i7, 16gb ram and 512 m.2 ssd. It takes a whole lot of time to do simple things like normalize volume or stabilize video even on 1080p. No laptop I found with i5/i7 and a dedicated gpu with expandible ram and ssd for less than $1200-1300

You should definitely go for a desktop if you don't need portability. This deal might not do it for you if you're struggling with your current laptop. Better spend a bit more initially rather than upgrading soon after a purchase where you're left with redundant components.

This is mostly true, but I got the Alienware area 51m and it's processing power is the same or better than most PCs. It has both a full desktop gpu and cpu, and you can get the 9900k and a 2080rtx in them, as well as overclock them. So if you need a portable solution it's a great one minus the cost. Nivida are also doing new workstation lines with laptop vendors to produce laptops that are portable and powerful.
