Is that good for the price compared to other modules?

Warning, this memory is thicker than most others, many laptop cannot accommodate it. I bought it and found this. If your laptop is thin, I bet this will not fit.

What is the difference between Patriot Viper and Patriot Signature ram?

https://www.newegg.com/patriot-16...-_-Product

That's the same price (actually, a dollar cheaper after shipping), with the same clock speed. Any reason the Viper would be better than the Signature?

Unknown. I've not seen this pair mentioned, but people have been using other 'gaming' DDR in it. A few people are reporting that the Mac has a narrow range of (maybe one) XMP profiles it is able to use. Therefore, many of they modules they are trying are running at 2400Mhz vs 2666Mhz. I note that the certified (by Crucial) DDR for Mac mini is CL19 vs this Viper CL18.

Well besides the cosmetic differences, that Patriot Signature you list has a slightly higher latency (CL19) vs the Viper's (CL18), not that this might make much practical difference. They are different though.

Amazon has it (Signature)with free shipping by the way: https://www.amazon.com/Patriot-Si...B07NPHRY7C

There is also this ram for the same price:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...rebbr=true
It is 2400mhz and CL16 instead of 2666mhz CL18 here. Some laptops like ryzen 2xxx series cpus cannot utilize 2666 mhz ram anyway and clock down to 2400mhz. My laptop clocked down 2666mhz cl 19 ram to 2400mhz cl17 and uses it that way. So, depending on your case, 2400mhz ram could suit you better.
Also:
There will be even more price drops rumored with the launch of ddr5 at the end of this year. But if you say I can't wait anymore i need that juicy ram, both are reasonable options (except the thiccc ram). I got the 2x8gb option for 64 dollars on newegg for my lenovo 530s can have dual channel.
PS: just checked the i5 8250u and it is also capped at 2400mhz.

Did you try removing the heat spreaders from the ram? Or are they double sided modules and your laptop only support single sided?

Repped. I was planning to pop this into an ultraportable, and I figured there might be clearance issues.

This memory stick has memory chips on both sides, plus it has metal heatspreaders on both sides. This makes it very thick! I tried several laptops in my house. None of them fit!!
