You'll want an amp for the HD6XX while the X2's do not need one. The X2's also have a simple 3.5mm detachable cable while the Sennheisers have their proprietary dual input cable. Sennheiser is primarily plastic so lighter on the head but also less durable than the X2's (metal band).

Sound quality is where it's listener preference. The soundstage is smaller/more intimate on the 6XX but the highs are less bright and the mids clearer with much more subdued bass. The X2's have a more distinct V curve sound signature with deeper bass subdued mids and bright highs. The type of music you like should be your determining factor. Jazz, classical, vocal heavy or anything without heavy hitting bass notes is likely all better on the 6XX, while anyone who prefers more bass and isn't looking for a neutral/flat sound will like the X2's.

I personally love the X2's due to the comfort, functionality and sound quality and for this price I think they're easily the best overall openback headphones under $200.

Oh you are killing me! Now $150 won't be good enough I'll have to wait for it to be around $115.

Thanks for the info!
