Tip of the hat to DLUONG85 whom posted this on the old $99 close out thread started on 4/9/19. That thread is essentially dead so I thought this deserved its own.

Ryobi Model # RY40610A, 40v Hedge Trimmer + Battery and Charger. (4.8 out of 5 stars) This closed out of stores in April for $99, but are now $43.03 if you can track one down. This is still found on Home Depot.com for $149.00. This model was replace by a new version which dropped the battery Ah down to 2.0 but added a wider cut and twist handle. For $106 difference I can live without the twist handle which I have never had anyway on my old B&D corded models.

Brickseek showed six available at the Anaheim Hills California Store ( 92807) I found four on a close out shelf. After my purchase Brickseek is now showing the correct amount of three being available. These were not on the same Isle as the current model and were clearly tagged on the shelf for $43.03 so there were no surprises when I paid at the Self Checkout Register. So you should ask a Store employee if they have a Close Out shelf in Lawn and Garden. This deal looks like a money maker selling as is or even keeping keep the battery and selling the bare tool.

Chase CC Rewards will sweeten this deal by 5% as Home Improvement is this quarters category along with Grocery Stores.

every store near me has a few in stock, but just says "clearance". not sure if it is worth the trip out there. what i really need is the 40v weed whacker, but i suppose getting this with the battery would let me get the bare tool weedwhacker, and extra tools are never a bad thing.

Yes all Stores are showing clearance including the Store in Anaheim Hills that I bought from. If Brickseek is showing three or more I think it may be worth your time.

I recommend you get the weed whacker with the power head motor. I've used the weed whacker plenty of times, but the tiller and snow thrower attachments saved my back a bit of pain over time. Of course, I also recommend getting that set with battery, having extra batteries helps a lot too. Since bare batteries cost as much as this deal if you can find it, it's worth it.

EDIT: Should have mentioned I have this trimmer and it works great. Especially in dense brush.

Battery + Charger confirmed, I just used the unit I picked up this morning. I updated my listing to make this 100% clear.

though i plan on getting into the m18 line, this 40v tool will be for my hunting cabin. i dont need the best of the best, and i dont need too many tool options. in fact, the 18v ryobi does the job just fine, id just like to upgrade to a bit mroe power to make things go faster, and a longer shaft to ease my back pain.
