I have this laptop, got it when it was 450+tax from office max deal. Things what everyone keeps looking for here:
-Ram not soldered. Both sticks can be removed easily if you have the right screwdriver (6 teeth star style). I just upgraded to 2x8 gb 2400mhz gskill cl16 kit i got from newegg for 64 dollars. Works slightly faster than original kit (samsung 2666mhz cl19, works at 2400mhz cl17 due to cpu mem contoller caps at 2400mhz)
-SSD is indeed 2242 nvme, you can probably install 2280 drive, there is physical space for it but cannot screw it like 2242 would because there is no screw holder there. If you don't need more space though the ssd is really fast, reaching 800mbps+ reads even though it is b+m key. Can install pci x4 ssd to reach faster speed but my opinion: it is not needed.
-The screen is ips and i think pretty good color and brightness. Although check for potential problems like dead pixels or backlight bleeding. Had to return first one for it.
-The wireless driver can cause problems upon waking up. Sometimes does not connect until restart, troubleshoot network does not fix. Hope they fix it but as is, not reliable.
-Can't game as much as other ryzen laptops, tdp is tuned lower I guess. After a minute of running smooth then gpu and cpu are clocked down heavily until it is cooled down to 60 C and game becomes unplayable. People tried to increase tdp limitations with no success as of now, they say it is hard locked.
Gpu drivers were a mess. It is getting much better but there are some glitches. Chrome gets random black screens and recoveres with some images becoming the famous gpu problem green color. Switched to firefox, it functions perfectly fine without glitches like chrome on this machine.
Hdmi is 1.4 so can't do 4k 60hz 4:4:4. However unlike intels it can do 4k 60hz 4:2:0 and most importantly it can stream 4k 60hz on YouTube.
Ask me anything I'll try to answer and I fiddled a lot with it for 2 months.
Wait there is more:
-Its screen is not freesync capable, but it can be connected to capable screens over hdmi and can do freesync on them.
-its weight is 1.4kg, not too heavy for a system capable of ram upgrade and hold hdmi port. It chassis is metal plate so looks cool.
-Screen is 14" but fits in 13.3" amazonbasic laptop sleeve because its bezels are very thin. If you are not already used to laptops with thin bezels, the size of this laptop is identical to older 13.3 inch models of slightly older generations.
-no power delivery over usb-c so you gotta carry its own charger. It has fast charging as a plus, so you are not entirely plug dependant.

What type of screen is this? Reading the description it just says FHD but I know that term can be interchangeable with IPS and TN screens

Pretty solid specs. Ryzen is good enough for light gaming too, my son has a very similarly spec'd system and he plays Overwatch/Fortnite on medium settings.

Watched a video on this model I think. SSD was 2242 only. If that is the case here; I recommend pass.

it has known issue with wifi.
Many lenovo laptops have Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 wifi card. Google it, there is a lot of complains about it.
I bought this laptop a week ago and having issues with wifi..
2 options:
1. return
2. buy and replace the card
still have not decided.

Fan turns on and off often. But I don't have anything to compare but mac...
Everything else is pretty good.

I think 2280 is better in terms of capacity (more space for chips) and heat dissipation, but not actual speed right? Don't they use the same connectors? just the length of the pcb is longer.

2242s are hard to find. 2280 is the standard. If what I suspect is indeed true. 2242 and only 2242 would fit. That would severely limit upgradeability.
