One of my friends @ a bbq had this exact chair, then our other Phat Friend sat in it, the chair just went NOPe, the chair broke on one side, the woman fell backwards and the chair came shooting out under her as she tumbled away.

Get 'em while you can. Still pissed at IKEA for their so-called "friends and family sale" - where they ended up handing out coupons the day before Black Friday and selling out all their Poang chairs till conveniently after the sale ended.

Ended up paying full price, but man-oh-man, the chair itself is great.

These work well. I will warn that they are not great if someone is heavy set since they may accidentally bend back too much and stay in that position. This happened for one of mine when a family member was visiting.

Man, how heavy? I am 225lbs and have not experienced that.

I have one that is 10+ years old and one that is 3 or 4, and both seem exactly the same.
One great thing is that you know they will always have cushions/covers to buy, so it is easy to change/update the look or replace if they become damaged.

Happened to me. Never been over 200 pounds but I used one and the frame bent over time. It took a while but it did happen.

Haven't had any frame bending issues, but I did shear both bolts holding on the back after about 6 years. Replaced them at the hardware for a buck. I also rock when I sit in it so I'm sure that contributed. Super comfortable, can't go wrong even if it sits in the spare room. Just the replacement cushion is more than this price in the store.

Is there a reason there's such variation in price for the ottoman? Beige and black are $37, anthracite is $48, and gray is $59. Are they made out of different material or padding?

An ex of mine clocked in at around 230-235, and the poang chairs held up just fine. They were all under 5 years old at the time though- I don't know the intended capacity or how time might change the structural integrity. I'm in the neighborhood of 195 and currently enjoying a 15+ year old Poang that doesn't seem in any danger of collapse.

I do know that the bolts work loose now and then, so hang on to the included allen wrench and check the thing once every year or so. That's advice for everyone, regardless of weight.
