The hammer version of this drill did very well in the recent pro tools drill shootout. Kobalt 24v batteries are generally cheaper per WH than other brands, so if you favor power over compactness this is probably a good fit. I own this and wish I had the hammer drill instead.

Hammer drill is also "on sale" but this one isn't it. Hammer drill is marked down to $99 bare tool https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-1...1000604955

I'd pay no mind to the pricing... Lowes is notorious for doing oddball stuff like that. In the kobalt 24v lineup, they have only ever made 2 24v drills. This one posted which is the hammer drill (pictures show it including the hammer drill handle), the specs also match up accordingly. The other way to tell is the stainless colored chuck. The cheaper version of the 24v drill doesn't come with the handle accessory, has lower tq specs and has an all black colored Chuck.

The hammer drill has a mode selector switch on the left side of the drill, shown in many of the pictures. The hammer drill I linked to has that switch but the one in this deal posted does not. The handle is not related to the hammer feature it's related to this thing delivering a large amount of torque. This is a brushless drill driver but does not appear to have the hammer feature.

If they had this deal when the compact impact wrench was $70 I'd probably be in the Kobalt ecosystem. They don't offer many tools but they appear to be very well made.

Do you mean me? I don't have a Brickseek membership. I just know Lowe's is discounting Kobalt these days.

I see $79 in my area; perhaps this is a YMMV deal? Confused

This is part of their fathers day sale so it should be pretty consistent most places.

I have this platform. Great tools. I have the hammer drill but bought my fatherinlaw this version. I have many of the additional tools. The saws are great as well.

With a sharp bit my hammer version will power through thick steel. Those are 1/2 holes in 1/2 plate. I also drilled some 1/2 holes in 1" thick steel. All on one 2ah battery.
