P.S. Just received a marketing email from Sonos about their new $799 Sonos by Sonance outdoor speakers. Clicked on the Sonos website link, then looked at the installation manual; while I can't be absolutely 100% sure, the speakers in the Best Buy kits I purchased sure do look (almost exactly) like those new $799 Sonos by Sonance speakers. Just sayin'.

Bought! I've been eyeing these for the front porch. Already have an amp for the back yard.

Just purchased also. Been tracking them for weeks. Regret not buying at $500. Still believe it's a great buy anyway. I'm sure they'll drop down at some point but that could be at the end of the summer.

I have been an integrator for twenty years and am a Sonos and Sonance dealer/installer. I actually tested the new amp before it was released too. I have a pair of reference Paradigm speakers and a subwoofer that I listen to in the office eight hours a day and when I replaced the Connect Amp with this new Amp the sound improvement was night and day. I have also verified this on recent installations since the release of the Amp. The new amp is much more powerful and has much better sound quality. The additional features on the new amp allow you to use it with a TV too if you ever want to repurpose it.
I read two comparative reviews from The Verge and Audio Advice. Seems there is a clear power and quality difference. However with smaller more efficient speakers there may not be much of a quality difference, according to the The Verge review when they compared them on outdoor Polk Atrium 5s (maybe comparable to this package). I think for the price, when this is on sale I am fine with the Connect:Amp.

Only cheaper option I can think of would be to put a couple play one's by the pool. I would say pull the trigger and if it goes lower get a price adjustment. I'm thinking this is a fathers days deal and as you pointed out, they can't have many left.
I have this set up. The play 5s were to big so I moved them inside and I have 2 zones outside with 3 Sonos ones. I swear by them. The 5s are great for surround sound let me tell you.

Speakers have good resale value? Worth it to get this if I only want the sonos connect?

The Sonance Mag O6 is only sold I this bundle (not individually), and seems to be a slightly lower quality version of the Mariner series (per a slickdealer who called the company and posted in another thread). eBay I have seen them between $180 (single) and $400 (pair). I haven't checked the completed listings though..

New there is only a 1 year warranty on these, vs a 5 year warranty on the Mariners. Who knows if that means anything about the build quality.

You should only be looking for zoned control if you want different audio in each zone. What you want sells for about $100-$200.

Not true, there are other uses for separate zones. Someone may want to separately adjust volumes, or to have only one zone on at a time. There might be cheaper ways to do this manually, they are not convenient.

I picked these up yesterday after feeling bad about missing out last time at $499. I feel no regrets this time. The package is very nice, I imagine non-SD people wouldn't feel at all bad buying at full price. I set them up on the outside of my pool shed and put the amp on the inside. The amount of power and clarity with this (old) amp and speakers is very impressive. I would buy this again in a heartbeat. If you are on the fence, jump in.

I don't really understand this product and deal. The whole draw for sonos is wireless, right? Aren't these speakers wired, so you need to run wires from outdoors, drill into your house and into the amp? Why pay $600 for that? Couldn't you guy a much cheaper setup with another brand? Not trying to troll, but really want to understand as I almost bought this until I saw it was wired

So.... without power speakers do not work. This kit lets you put the speakers wherever you want and the amp wherever you want. If you want to run the speaker wire, it's much smaller of a deal as they are low power. The always on nature of the Sonos Box means it will always be ready to play. Unless you want a battery powered bluetooth speaker, this is about as good as it gets. The main draw here is that the Sonos products are very well integrated with just about every ecosystem now and the Sonance speakers are actually very, very nice. This is the price that the Sonos AMP was all the time so you are basically getting nice speakers and a remote for free.

This is an awesome deal, I just bought a 2nd set 3 weeks ago at the 849 price.

Easy to install and easy to use just like all the other Sonos products.
