How do these speakers compare to the sonos. I have play a play one for one room, a five for another and two play threes for outside on the patio. Are these better than the play threes?

Is this really a deal? You unfortunately need to wire your house for this. Unless you have an existing outdoor setup

Bought this last year for an outdoor setup for the same price and was really, really impressed.

We did a back-to-back sound test with this Sonance setup vs. Sonos Play:3 pairs and ended up ditching the Sonos Play:3s.

(Compared to the Play:3 pair)

Pros:
+ Superior sound quality. Can't stress how much better and clearer these sounded compared to the Play:3s. Highs and mids are clear, lows hit hard. Even at high volume, there is little to no distortion (unlike the Play:3s, which really hurt your ears and sound out of sync/distorted at higher volumes).
+ Made for outdoor use (Sonos:3 is not, but we used it for about a year without issue under a covered area).

Cons:
- Dumb speakers; you'll need to run speaker wire to the included Sonos Connect amp in order to maintain Sonos functionality. This is a headache compared to the Play:3s, since the Play:3s work over WiFi out of the box and only require power from an AC outlet.

But, overall, it was worth the pain of wiring the speakers into the Sonos amp. They sound amazing. I'd recommend em!

I have this set up. The play 5s were to big so I moved them inside and I have 2 zones outside with 3 Sonos ones. I swear by them. The 5s are great for surround sound let me tell you.
Surround sound? As in home theater rear or side surround sound? You mean ambient sound in the house?

Sonos follows the Apple/Bose/Beats model of technological achievement of less is more at a higher price. I controlled F'd through 4 pages of people ignoring the mastadon in the room of NO BLUETOOTH in these severely over-priced under-performing pieces of s***.

u sir dont understand sonos.

Why TF do you want to limit something via bluethooth 33'ft range, when SONOS works on WiFi. Coverage anywhere in the house. You can stream anything on your phone or tablet to SONOS without dealing with BT. Why do you think BT is so important?

I am about to purchase two Sonos One at $150 each to match with my Sonos Beam for TV surround sound, and I just saw this one. It will be used indoors, front left and front right of my TV. The router is right where my TV is.

What would be better bang for buck for what I need, the Sonos One or Sonance pair?

Thanks!

Why not both? Give people more options. Seriously, for as much as they cost they couldn't throw in a friggin bluetooth chip so that a guest could share their itunes fairly easily? Bluetooth may not be the best way to experience music but it's ever improving and hear to stay. Whats their excuse?

Their excuse is it would only work with a single speaker or pair at a time vs an entire house and yard playing the same or different music. A lot of people wouldn't understand why they can't play it in multiple zones via Bluetooth. The newest Sonos one do have a Bluetooth chip but it's just used to assist setup.

Anyways if your interested in this set you should buy it at $599. The only time I could find it for less was for Black Friday pricing. So if you want to enjoys these outside this summer buy it. I bought it at this price and only regret not pulling the trigger last Black Friday, but still completely happy with them. A lot better than dragging other Sonos speakers outside and pairing them and then remembering to bring them back inside after drinking and BBQing all day/night and changing back my other room setups...

your guest can easily connect to your Wifi, download the SONOS app in less than 3 minutes.

Then they could play whatever they wanted to play via (itunes, or other) to your speakers.

Way better than BT.

Ok, I'll add my personal experience: I needed a speaker for my kitchen to pair with my wall-mounted, Alexa-enabled, 10" Fire tablet. So I bought a Sonos play 5 in black from bestbuy for $500 Crazy When I realized it didn't do bluetooth I returned it immediately and bought a Google Home Max at $250 sale price. Now I have Alexa and Google services bluetooth paired to each other with the same speaker profile of the Play 5. They lost a sale because it didn't pair with my tablet.

No, I had a specific task requirement not met by Sonos for no reason other than they were too cheap to throw in a $5 bluetooth chip.

edit: The Google Home Max streams through wifi as well and sounds the same if not better than the Sonos Play 5.

Yeah one set right now covers the patio, going to put second set on covered deck over patio pointing out over the pool. Honestly the sound from one set is loud enough to cover the whole area if I turn it up enough (these project really well in the direction you point them and bleed enough sound in other directions at higher levels), but I want the coverage at lower sound levels; I like my neighbors and they still like me.
I have the identical issue!! Cheers!
