I've been considering this TV or the Hisense H9E Plus for $649 from Walmart? Any advice?
With zero experience with the Hisense, just research, the general impression I got was that Hisense is really bottom of the barrel. It's 4k, but that alone doesn't make a good TV. The TCL actually has marginal HDR which is a big deal at this price range. The negative is supposed QA on the panels. Though I suspect that's folks being overly critical because the panel performs so well they compare it to $2k TVs.

I added the rting review to the main post. Worth a read if you're on the fence.

Look directly under the 699 price. It will be in blue letters.

This TV.
This. Buy this TV, and forget you even considered the Hisense.

FYI, this is an amazing deal. I bought this tv while it was $820 at Best Buy a few months ago, and at the time that was essentially the lowest price it had seen. It's gone a lot cheaper since then, but even at $820 I have no regrets.

Do consider the whole "panel lottery" people keep talking about. I didn't run into it, but definitely pay attention to when you first get it. I bet amazon would pick up/redliver for free if you get unlucky (though don't quote me on this)

I heard from different website that this has pixel shifting or something like that using this TV as an PC monitor is bad but I could be wrong and maybe they updated in a firmware. I wish it was a good PC monitor.

According to rting it appears 10bit, not sure if it's 8 bit with good dithering.

Got the amazon card for another $70 off, $583 w tax shipped after card and 15% back. Not bad, thanks!
Nice, very tempting since I already have an Amazon card.

I see that there's a 4 year warrant for ~$100 offered from some 3rd party, anyone purchase this? Is it necessary?

Bought this for 719 10 days ago on Amazon. Will Amazon refund the difference?

——-

Just contacted and they said I can return the TV and buy at the lower price. Wtf?

Looks like the TCL is the better TV, especially if you watch movies and HDR content.

When did you see the Hisense for $649? At my Walmart, they were marked down to $599 from $999.
