That's the reason, because it's considered separate tickets, pnr, itinerary so the international flight won't be protected. snacks915, delta has plenty of flights from ATL to JFK so if I were you, I'd get the earliest flight to jfk and incase something happens, you might get bumped to the next one or might transfer to lga (then catch a ride to jfk) if you have no other choice.

The op stated the site is skyscanner. Once you found the deal, you click the link and you will be redirected to a smaller OTA at which you purchased the ticket. You can try the date 3/15/2020 to 3/24/2020, it showed $236 round trip nonstop at the moment. Btw, it has the option to get the ticket from expedia or orbitz.

Thanks OP. I booked directly on American Airlines site. It was slightly different dates but came out to $280 + $12 to select a seat in advance. Still a decent deal.

Note that MXP airport has a Admirals Club lounge, so you can pair this with the AA executive credit card offer to get free access to the Admirals Club lounge.

Further note, if you try to book this itinerary using AA miles you will get F*$#ed. Redemption comes out to around $0.005 per mile.

thanks....sometimes revenue flights is better than using reward miles. in this case, this deal is better paying money.

You can open google flights and the cheapest flights and dates should generate. Better than skyscanner

This is a good deal. Would it be stupid to fly from Texas to NYC just to get this deal? Anything from here is like $700. Flights from Houston to NYC are like $170.

Is there any easy way to use NYC as the 2nd leg of my connecting flight? For instance, Atlanta-NYC-Milan? I know I could book a separate flight for Atlanta to NYC but not having any international flight protection makes me nervous.

Why would you not have any international flight protection if you book them separately?

I've not tried this yet, but I imagine if my separate Atlanta to NYC flight gets delayed, or I miss it, or anything like that, the airline would not be inclined to help me get to Milan afterwards.
