YMMV, likely being boosted.

Yi seems to get posted a lot, frequently by staffers.

How does this compare to the Wyze Pan cam @ $30 + Shipping?

i have a number of the Yi cameras including the dome 360 that i actually use outdoor under an over hang. their outdoor, and several of their home 1080p and the app works great and i have faster response getting to my alerts in the YI app versus my Ring cameras or my POE cameras off the NVR.
Anyone know how this one mounts and is it waterproof? I do hate how all these cameras has a tendency of picking up every little thing even with sensitivity adjustment so i'm wondering how well the AI detection of human and pets work.

Does Yi officially support RTSP so I can use my own software to manage and record video or are they still forcing people to use their paid for cloud / SD card only option?

Just wondering because Wyze does support RTSP so I am able to use Blue Iris or any recording software I see fit, officially I might add (Yi has firmware that can work on models to switch them so they can use RTSP using firmware made for Chinese but by flashing it, it'll void your warranty completely and will be all in Chinese letters, fun times navigating around!).

I tend to respect those that at least give you the option to record however I want, where ever I want - managing your data myself. My little $25 Wyze camera is one of the greatest technological investments I've made in a very long time.. even how it goes from tiny cube to having legs and a stand. I thought it was just another Yi camera (I think they come from the same factory in China) but I was wrong and I've been nothing but impressed by the company behind it, they actually give two shits which is why they allowed RTSP which was a bold move Yi has yet to do in the US market.

Oh and Wyze rotating camera has 3,371 reviews at 1080p with night vision, 2-way audio, waypoints, time lapse, etc for $38. That's their regular price every day of the week Smilie

I've never been able to say that without getting downvoted to death. LaView is the first one I noticed, how obvious it is how a certain individual is so helpful when it comes to Chinese cameras, in particular LaView and will push you into those sales and even have people call him (Matt) out (seems intentional at times) "what do you think of this Matt?" And then he'll happily sell you on that camera or one of their others.

It's a for profit site without a doubt and staffers/mods are geared to sell certain products. If you're against these practices, use what little power you have and downvote, don't buy, move on, remember these practices exist here and know you did the smart thing.

You think Yi is the only one who does what you insinuate? Slickdeals is a deal site, probably the preeminate deal site on the internet; and because of this, it's not surprising that retailers disguised as "members" sign up to hawk their junk to the masses in the form of glowing reviews and TU. And when it comes to cameras, we live in the age of zero privacy, big brother, snooping, spying, big data, and enhanced surveillance. EVERYONE DOES IT, whether they admit it or not from Amazon to Google to Foscam to Yi and beyond. We all lost our rights once we let these devices into our home, and Yi is no worse or better than any other camera. If you have Amazon echos and surveillance cameras (of any brand) spread throughout your house, YOU HAVE TO assume you are recorded, and you are. To assume otherwise is naive at best. Yi, with the exception of their lack of rtsp, is a good camera for what it does - so is Wyze and Foscam. Pick your poison.

After 2 years or so with yi cameras, I just last week swapped them out for wyze since I was tired of the app with connectivity issue. The wyze cams blow my mind at how responsive they are.

Agreed. I have never been able to get the notifications to work after my first month. Makes me wonder if this feature only valid with the cloud subscription. My two Wyze cameras work with immediate notifications to my phone.

I've never had a problem with yi notifications. Check out your settings? Sometimes after firmware updates some settings can go back to default or turn off for some strange reason.

I thumbed up without commenting initially. I must be a bot.

If Wyze were to initially put out a similar product first, I'd buy a Wyze version instead. Xiaomi/Yi are usually 3-6 months ahead of Wyze's offerings.

I'm holding off for ~$40. The movement range has increased, and if the AI works recognizing pets that is very useful for me.

for 12 months now ive had multiple notification alerts that make this app, and thus the cameras, useless. the company knows about it, and it is a semi common issue, but they do nothing.

i wont get notifications for days, then all of a sudden i get like 20 of them all at once. then for the next few days i get them in clusters of 5, all completely random, and not after an actual motion event. its gotten to the point where i just ignore them, which is pretty counter-intuitive for a security camera app. then ill stop getting notifications all together and i forget about the app, then after a week, boom. dozens roll in. so yea... pretty much screw this company.

ive emaild back and fourth, they put me through the run around of making sure the apps are optimized, etc.. data clears, fresh installs, etc etc... THEN they tell me it is a known bug and to keep an eye out for the next update... well, thats been going on for at least a year now.

It shouldn't require subscription, I've never bought their cloud service and only use the SD card route, I have zero problem getting notifications since getting my first cam in 2016. I think it's some sort of software glitch, if you're certain your firmware and app are up to date, maybe trying sign up for a new account and readd all the cameras as new?
