These laptops dont have Backlit Keyboard and Fingerprint Reader. And TD says to check with Lenovo for warranty.

Yes, the Processor is way better than your two year old 2.3 GHz Processor. The architecture of the CPU is advanced and it mainly relies on very high Turbo Boost frequency which enables it to boost the Clock speed at very high degree (3.4 GHz for this) during workload. Also, these Processors are quad core in nature vs Dual Core un 3 years ago. In applications which can take benefit of more cores, this processor can be 40% more powerful than previous generation (7th) CPU.

I don't see any mentions of backlit keyboard or fingerprint scanner?

Go to the Lenovo Product page. Those two are common across all the models.

I looked at Lenovo product page and configured the L480 to the one available here, and the price was $1,149. How can this be so cheap? Is it a refurb? What kind of return policy does Tiger Direct have if it turns out to be not what it is described as?

Specwise, the $600 one (20LTS7T800) fits exactly with what I'm looking for. However, I can't find anybody selling it, in-stock, apart from TigerDirect. MacMall and PCMall both list it at the same price but both show it "temporarily unavailable". All three companies are under same ownership. There's a dearth of reviews for it too. Something doesn't seem quite right here.

I have some doubts about the 3 years warranty too. Or even if this might be refurbished?

well, there is only one prebuilt model, the customize page has the default option without these features. So I don't think this has backlit keyboard and fingerprint scanner

Something does seem off here, but this is a nice ThinkPad at this price if this is new. As far as returns go, conflicting language, but I found this on their returns page.

"The following manufacturer's products (not all inclusive) are also not returnable to us: 3Com, Compaq, Cisco, IBM, Intel, HP, Toshiba, Adobe, Quark, Lenovo, Sony and Polycom."
