I've had a similar LG OLED for a year or so, it is by far the best TV I've ever seen. Yes it cost more, but that because it has a superior picture, that is just magnificent. This is a great price, I paid almost $3K.
Why did you only have it for a year

Variable refresh rate is way more important than the 120hz and will be a huge benefit for all games. Anyone who has tried the technology in freesync or Gsync can tell you how much of a difference it makes.

But I think you're wrong about 120hz as well because all the frame rate has to be is above 60hz to experience the higher frames, it doesn't have to be literally 120 fps.

Some games will run above 60fps natively if they are not too taxing. Also games will be backward compatible and it's totally reasonable that many PS4 titles will run at 4K 60+fps on the new console as well.

My point is that this is coming next year. You really want to get a non 2.1 set NOW? It seems like a terrible idea to me.
More times than not. adaptive sync technology doesn't matter much. It's mostly for games that draw a lot of resources and kicks in during performance drops. When it comes to gaming, I would prioritize a strong GPU/CPU before worrying about this technology. Yes, it's nice to have, but ideally your PC should be able to perform without it, and you'll have a better gaming experience if it does. Adaptive sync is just a backup and is just duplicating frames to prevent tearing rather than applying the frames that represent what is actually happening with the game.

Still doesn't answer my question why you only had it such a short period Of time. Sorry I'm not the best with my English and punctuation.

The point he was trying to make is that "I've had" is a statement that includes the present tense and past tense. So, while saying "I had a car for 3 years" is a statement of the past, generally implying that I no longer have "a car." However, saying "I've had my car for 3 years" means that not only did you have "a car" for 3 years, but you also still have it. In the current example, it means that he has had the TV for 1 year and still has it. That help?

Guessing if I wait to take advantage of HDMI 2.1 I'll need an AVR that is also compatible with 2.1 if I pass it through? Currently using an AVR to run my audio.

Great price but it seems like a terrible idea to buy something without HDMI 2.1 at this point.

If you game, you're going to be really sad when the Playstation 5 comes out and you can't take advantage of 4K 120hz or variable refresh rate.

Really suggest that all gamers hard pass on non HDMI 2.1 displays unless the deal is out of this world good.
no one will be disappointed. 4k120 is not happening on any high fidelity AAA title next generation consoles. i can see a world where 4k60 is possible as a maybe

Yes becuase clearly the average gamer can afford 2k worth of TV or willing to spend that.

OLED isn't the best for gaming unless u love risking burn in from static images.I'm not saying you can't just that OLED selling point is best picture for the money without being super rich.

We still don't know what the new hardware can do saying it will do something and doing it aren't the same.Xbox One X said 4k in 60fps and not all games do that, some do 4k at 30fps,some do it by changing resolution on the fly. Some do 60fp in it's full glory.

Funny how some are so set on FPS and talk as if it's the wholly grail but never once mention input lag or response times which are more important then 120hz.What is the point of 120hz if your tv input is higher and offsets the advantage of 120hz.

If you're going to upsell for gaming TVs are the worse choice a nice monitor will blow away any TV for gaming. It will have better input lag, better response times, support for VRR,120hz 4k for around the same price as this TV.

That being said TV's are a good compromise for duel use of tv and gaming and higher FPS is not a game changer for gaming. As if you suck at 60fps,120hz isn't going to change that and that is the biggest reason for higher frames is for better input and respone times. Not everyone will notice the improved smoothness either.

I have an LG Oled65b7a and I was on the fence on buying one because of the burn in possiblity. I though the technology is there to prevent it, well I got burned. It is an amazing picture but after two years of regular normal use, I got burn in. I did my best taking care of the tv but it's not worth the headache and worries preventing it. My suggestion is if you get a Oled, use it for movies, sports and/or any light usage. In my opinion, it is not a TV for regular or heavy usage.

2.1 or not, I'm buying the C9 / E9 for the improvements in screen burn-in reduction.

Isn't it time industry stop calling TVs 'Smart TVs?' I mean, are there really any more TVs mass produced that don't have any 'smart' capabilites other than monitors? If so I'd love to find a high in 60> OLED TV without 'smart' capabilities. The price you'd think would be cheaper. The term 'smart' is so over used nowadays. I digress...

I get your point but while granted you will be hard pressed to find a 4k without some form of OS some are better off without them.

I just wish they would all stick to one choice as that can be a deal breaker for me and wish either Android TV or Rooku tv was standard and the rest did not exist.

I mean I won't pass on TV by OSalone, but if two TVs exist with about the same specs but one says has Web OS the other Rooku I'm getting the rooku one.

Wish I felt the same. It is magnificent when watching 4K and high def video. Ive been very disappointed with the normal cable watching. Doesn't look very good. Maybe you can share your settings? Either way this is a nice price for the E8
Would also like to get perspectives on regular 1080i cable watching on LG C8 or E8 OLEDs as would hate it to look worse than my Sammy D8000 plasma. Any thoughts out there?
