these cost less. In all seriousness, buy the 580s, save a chunk of dough, put the savings toward your center or sub. —a 590 owner

These are GREAT speakers for the money, I run 3 of them across my front soundstage behind some rather substantial QSC poweramps and they are absolutely the best investment I've made in my home theater in a long time.

They are the perfect height to put the horns where they should be for a seated listener while also allowing an LCD display to be mounted above without putting the display at an awkward angle sitting 10 or so feet back.

Thank you, i missed out on the 520c yesterday. What center and sub do you use/recommend with the 590s?

That center will be back on sale, just wait for it. I would always match your center channel with the left and right speakers.

I would also recommend two or three budget subs over one better, bigger sub. You can get better bass from 30-200 hz in room that way. Getting that range right is very important.

Thank you! I think Studio 5 series speakers match, right? For example, a 520c with a pair or 580 or 590 is considered matching?

Correct! Same waveguide, same woofers in all but size and same compression driver.

I missed the 530 deal. Can i sit 3-4 feet from these as well? The 580s are too tall to stand on my desk, I wonder if the bottoms can be chopped off?
I'm gonna assume you're new to speakers and not pulling a fast one on us 😄 don't cut any speakers you buy it changes the sonic signature dramatically for the worse. Take a look at this guide for desktop speakers in various price brackets, you'll get solid performance on a desk from one of these selections like you would the JBLs for a room
