Ahhh you must be a short https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...ilies/wink.gif

I have said this on other posts on slick deals and will say it again... After owning a model S for 3 years and a model 3 for 1 I will never ever go back to a gas car. Best safety, performance, and convenience in a single car.
As someone who has profited off both owning and shorting Tesla stock, it's pretty obvious there are both hardcore short zealots and hardcore Tesla stock pumpers. This thread has both.

Geez, how pathetic must one's life must be if you're on SD for a product you have no interest in.

I'm on SD for other deals and I am pissing on this thread because it doesn't need to be here. Don't get it twisted: this is shill junk and not wanting it here is a perfectly acceptable sane response to anyone who has seen this place continually erode into a place for people to peddle mediocre non-deals or straight shill for products instead of sharing unique ways of saving money at below retail prices or to discuss the quality of products.

Smart people realize Tesla is a smoke and mirrors show with low quality products.

Smart people test things and have experience and knowledge with them before they form an opinion. Tell me how much time you've spent with this car?

I'm actually a little guy, but I drive a Porsche. Teslas are still crap even if I didn't tho.

Teslas lost 50% of the company's value over the last 6 months. 2019 is their worst year ever.

The company can't seem to make money to stay alive. They sell at a loss. The more they sell, the more losses they have. They're screwed

I own both cars you mention... And I like the tesla better. You've driven the tesla extensively as you form this opinion?

Tesla's are very much love or hate. An early review I read of the Model 3 said that for most people it will be the best car they could own at any price.

As a model 3 owner, I agree.

I charge for free at work, didn't pay NJ state tax, got a tax rebate of $7500 and will keep the car for 10 years, which will make it cheaper to own than a Honda Civic for me.

Performance and safety wise, it's in a class all by itself.

The engineering is also in a league all by itself - Most of the car is made out of aluminum so it's not going to rust. No muffler to replace, or oil changes needed. The brakes are regenerative and will last 100-200k+ miles, the motor is made to last 1 million miles.

The Model 3 as whole was made to last as long as a commercial Truck, the battery is rated to last between 300-500k miles and TESLA will be offering replacement batteries.

My car is constantly getting better via updating software that offers new features and improvements.

All in all, it's one amazing piece of engineering and not something I would equate with low quality.
I'm actually a fanboy but the math isn't there. I've tried justifying it over and over but got my deposit back and moved on with my life

(This is slick deals)

First, there is no comparison to a honda civic when the car costs twice as much. Enjoy the car, Just say you felt like getting one...instead of using this to justify a massive car payment

For non civic people...
I'm not interested in buying a $50k/car that may get hit and then is worth zero because of carfax (true story)...owning it out of warranty etc...(replacement screen is $7k i think, model s door handles were $1200)

They only just recently decided to do leases...and theyre outrageous compared to a comparable bmw/benz/infiniti.

$800/month lease for a 50k car is insane(618/month with 5800 das)....I can get an equivalent car for $500/month any day of the week with free maintenance that will be in warranty until I give it back after 3 years to get a brand new car

Using this logic...I can go through three 36 month leases in that 10 years for the same $54k that it cost for you to buy that car....okay, after 10 years, i own nothing!! ...but, you own a 10 year old car worth bubkis.

How long is free charging at work going to last? That is all fun until some other dude decides to plug in his tesla in every day. (true story). Electric in nj also isn't cheap, so savings will be limited.

Side complaint...
They took too long to get to market, and after the superior HW1 AP, they were stagnant for 3 years rewriting the system and let everyone else catch up to the 2 things that really matter to most people (adaptive cruise/lane keeping)...I couldn't care less about electric, and Im not holding my breath on FSD (It would be nice tho), but an extra 6k is unjustifiable.

Weird, since Tesla outsells Porsche globally these days.

Teslas lost 50% of the company's value over the last 6 months.
Mainly due to fake news like this thread is seeing....like how demand had dried up.

Now that the real facts are coming out (like they're likely to, once again, hit record highs for shipments of car) the stock has regained a good chunk of the losses...up $35/share in the last 7 days since that news broke.

Stock price isn't always a great indicator of anything but panicky people.... Nvidia has lost a larger % of its market cap in the last year than Tesla at this point- and they own like 80% of the discrete video card market.

They're made a profit 2 of the 3 last quarters.

Quote from louisssss

They sell at a loss.
The gross margin on the Model 3 is 20% profit.

The loss they did have in that 1 quarter of the last 3 was largely due to one-off expenses like repaying a 900+ million dollar debt that was due, and retooling the Model S/X production lines for a refresh (thus significantly reducing output of those models while retooling- plus sales of them were down because folks were waiting on the refreshed model)

You seem... poorly informed on the facts.

I bought a SR+ 3 for around 40k. After rebates, incentives, and energy savings over 8 years the cost of ownership will be comparable to a Civic EX. Lower if you factor in resale value. That's with charging at home in CA where electricity isn't cheap. Sticker prices and monthly loan payments are what people look at when they can't see the whole picture.

Tesla should keep trying to outsell Toyota's since that's their main competitor. Have fun with your whale of a plastic car
