Went to BG a few years ago and family loved it, although it got a little old after 3 days. Also went to the waterpark. Stayed at Kingsmill - excellent resort with free shuttle.

Most beautiful theme park in the USA. Great food also. I miss Big Bad Wolf.
How would you compare this park to Hersheypark? Is it better/in line/worse? Just overall vibe.

Hersheypark is not nearly as good of a park. The different areas at BGW are much better themed. The food is better. The coasters are better even though BGW has less.

HP is good, but BG has better rides and food. Also, to me, HP is more of an amusement park and BG is more of a theme park, although HP seems to be making a push in the theme park direction.

Hi - I saw that they were discounted for veterans. May I ask how to obtain free tickets? Thank you
The Waves of Honor Program provides military personnel and up to three direct dependents one complimentary admission per year to either SeaWorld, Busch Gardens or Sesame Place.

I've been to HP few times and I think we had enough, we need somewhere that's a bit nicer and not nearly as spread out. It takes you forever to walk from one end of the other, and HP is not designed properly, it has hills, and you have to walk all the way back to exit, not a circular design which is one of the worst things for HP. Food is not that good, very limited and overpriced but they let you take food from outside as long as no hard containers or glass bottles.

Thanks, HP needs to do a lot of work on their lines and overall cleanliness, it needs a good scrubbing and a good overhaul in older rides, it just looks dingy in some areas, other, like water park area is nice, but again it's not as clean as I'd expect. It's super cheap I guess that's what they got going for them. Hotels are not that cheap in the area though which ruins the experience.

I've never been this far down south driving, so it's a pretty long drive from new england to VA, but I am considering a week long trip, stopping by at DC and seeing the sights, capitol etc. I wonder if that's advisable.

I was considering six flags too, but reviews of 6F are horrible. I am skipping. Why can't we find a nice water park to go to. Unless we go to Volcano Bay or Disney's water park, very pricey.

3 day pass.. yup, that's about how many days it'll take to get through all the long lines for each ride you want to try. Pass.

If you go on a weekday, it's usually not too bad.

Grew up going to this park. Remember to look into the Quick Que. They can save you hours now, especially on the newer rollercoasters. Also in the recent years the parks been wildly busier than normal, so get there early to avoid park capacity!

I've gone down to Busch Gardens Williamsburg the past three years. We always go the week before Labor Day, during the week. It's always a great deal, hotels are very inexpensive at that time and all the rides hardly have any lines. Kids are back in school down there and here in NJ kids go back after Labor Day so it works out great for us going then.

I actually prefer Six Flags in NJ to Hershey Park as far as rides go. You can avoid having a terrible day as long as you go on a weekday at least and absolutely get there an hour before park opening. Six flags tends to do a bad job staffing the gates so the bottleneck with help you in the early part of the day. Just make sure to search for discount tix. The one in Maryland is terrible and not worth a trip.

Longwood gardens is worth a stop especially if you can hit one of the fireworks shows. The 90 million dollar fountains are amazing.

Kings Dominion is also a really good park and the easiest to combo with BGW.

Hershey is great for younger kids. If your kids are teenagers, then its Bush Gardens. But this deal is a killer deal! 3 days at bush gardens or 1 day at Hershey for about the same price. I would chose this deal.Peace
