That used to be the case. But in the last 12-24 months they made some key changes. Specifically free shipping (when you sign up with a specific promo code), only requiring 3 "full priced" purchases (also with a specific sign up code) and also dropping the price of what counts as a commitment (believe it used to be $29.95 but anything over $19.95 counts now).

The prices I quoted are all in, for a full commitment (excluding taxes of course). Can cancel as soon as you get all your movies.

I get it. The DMC isn't for everybody. It requires a bit of work (but less than a lot of the SDs I see on here). I haven't experienced it, but supposedly they're pretty lenient if you accidentally forget to decline a featured title (even will send you a prepaid return label).

But just to be clear, it's not factually accurate to say "it's always cheaper to buy from Amazon/Target:Walmart". If you use the right promo code, and average the price of all of your titles over the full amount of $$ you have to spend (so it's apples to apples), DMC will always be cheaper. Unless you really only want/need one title. Then obviously chasing an individual deal is your best bet.

But isn't going that club just like the old Columbia/bmg cd deals of the 90s where you get a great deal up front but then have to buy x number of movies at their price? I felt like I did the math one time and it came out to $18 per to fulfill the obligation.

Good price if you're only after Finding Nemo.

If there are 8+ Disney Blu-Rays, digital, or DVDs you're after, joining the Disney Movie Club is a better deal. Can get 8 for $53-$63+tax (or ~$6.60-$8 per copy). Don't want to hijack this thread so PM if interested.

Yes, I fell for it before and got stuck with a way over priced movie I didn't want because I missed the deadline to cancel an auto delivered Blu-ray. Disney charged like $35+tax and it was going for $15 on Amazon, plus I didn't want the movie. Also they will send you "welcome back" sign up packets in the mail monthly forever. Don't do it. It's always cheaper to buy from Amazon/Target/Walmart and get the ones you want when there's a sale or promotion.

I bought this on VHS, DVD, Bluray and now digital. Thankfully, digital will be the last time we will need to keep repurchasing the same movies.
