I have a stack of broken hard drives: 4 Seagate 3TB, 1 WD 4TB green, 1 WD 3TB black, and some various SSDs. These are only the ones I kept though.

I'm guessing you haven't had many Seagate drives.

CCC shows lowest price of $131 on Amazon. I got one to add to my next Plex server build that I plan to migrate Blue Iris to from the old Intel Nuc that currently serves as a BI server. Thanks!

All I know is that every HDD failure that I have ever had was a Toshiba HDD.

Definitely not worth the risk then for security cameras.

I only use WD purple as well. We have 2 buildings. 40 cameras. A total of 1.5 million sq ft and I wouldn't risk using anything else.

I agree. Toshiba and Seagate are the last drives I would buy. Even if the drive fails within 90 days, they still send you a re-manufactured one that will fail again in less than a year.

Thanks I bought one. I have a refurbished drive showing some SMART errors this will replace.
I use all brands, and I've never really seen one be better than the rest. I'm just a consumer running an unRAID NAS.

What size have you been using. I've only used the 4tb units so far. Wondering how reliability of the larger drives are.
