Yup. I actually took pictures both times because I can't remember anything. I swear since having kids...my memory has gone down the toilet. The pics showed it on sale July 7th and October 13th.
Hm, maybe I'll hold out to July then hoping it will come back again. That one looks like much more fun and I think will fit our space better. Did you see it in store each time? I'm pretty sure I only saw the one in October.

I'm thinking about building something like this with treated lumber. I'm guessing $300 for the lumber, and $400 for the slide/swing?
I've thought about this too, and the hard part is finding a good slide to build around (you're going to have to design everything around that height). I don't think I'll do it since I've never seen a treated wood play set that has held up well over the years, but that's probably just people that don't take care of it well enough and don't re-treat it over time.

I was considering this route, but the material costs / accessories add up fast. Also, judging from the condition of sets on craigslist, wood doesn't seem to hold up very well. I have been waiting for a deal on this set so am more than happy to pull the trigger.

I think you're mistaken with the cheap cedar treated . With treated 2x4s for fencing/structure grade. It would last a long time . I could totally be off on my rough estimate on cost. But durability will out last those treated set that they're selling.

Wish I had held out for this deal. Bought a backyard discovery cedar wood set for $500 a month ago. It is nice looking, but I can tell it will barely last 5 years.

Can you link to the one on sale at HD? I don't see anything under $1600 right now
It's a different Lifetime set with monkey bars and no fort.. I've been impressed with all the Lifetime products though.. we really like this one, not a huge sale, but doesn't seem to go on sale much..

Are you referring to the set with monkey bars without the fort?
Yes, it's Lifetime Monkey Adventure Playset for $980. Had everything we were looking for and nice construction, easy to assemble.

+1 on this. Purchased a couple years ago and aside from dirt and grime from kids, trees, etc, it's like new. I use a pressure washer to clean it occasionally. Great instructions, I assembled myself in a day with only needing a 2nd person once or twice.

No, but I think it's 10% more if you're not a member. I just got the membership - it's totally worth it

My wood set is only two years old and falling apart. I treat the wood a couple times a year. I wish I could take mine back to Costco and buy this set.
You can take it back to Costco. I had a wood set and took the 1000 individual pieces back to Costco for a full refund a year or so later.

They told me they may or may not take it back. I'm a little nervous to tear it apart and them not take it back. The slide broke off. The wood is cracking and breaking. My 58lb daughter is the only one who has played on it. It just hasn't held up well even with treating the wood twice a year.
