Be aware, "Basic Economy" literally means no baggage. Just what you wear and can stuff in a purse. Really just a joke fare that most will have to upgrade.

Pretty much every US airline charges extra for checked bags, no surprise here...

Are you really charged for carry on bags? I'm a delta guy. It's free there.

Yea. Just one small personal item that will fit under the seat. Rest is charged extra. https://www.united.com/web/en-US/...y-faq.aspx

I only fly SW if I have that choice, legacy carriers all suck IMHO

I'm starting to very much dislike airlines because they lure you in with a low fare and nickle and dime you on carry-on, luggage, breathing air, etc. Last time I bought a car, I got a quote, I went in and bought the car and drove home. Easy. When did flying become lower than buying a car?

In a perfect world, I'd only fly Virgin. But airlines "own" specific routes and are sometimes the only game in town and unavoidable. Like United...Yuk

Bonus: SWA should hopefully be flying to Hawaii within the next year. Albeit, likely using MAX to make the trip so...... The fares should be LOW AF for those willing to make the trip.

They have, but quickly sold out the affordable rates. Just $600 one-ways left. They haven't added more flights either, so looking at others on Hopper. It's when you see the pricing shenanigans of the rest when you really appreciate Southwest.
