Looks like they are clearing them out. Great price if you need this kind of power!

Additional $30.00 off a matching motherboard if purchased together.

Had my local Staples 110% price match this price. They had it listed for $1129, lol. Came out to $349 after Ohio taxes. It's an online-only item apparently.

It can be. It's great if you need the extra cores for multitasking, rendering, video editing, etc. gaming you'd probably be better off with something with higher base clock.

Wait for Ryzen 3000. Better clock speeds, higher ram speed and more future proof

Well you are looking at 750 vs 400, and this gives quad channel memory... 1950x is a solid proc, I had one before my 2990x and it was a beast, i just needed more cores

High end x570 board is going to be in the realm of the x399 boards price wise... if you need more pci lanes and want 16 cores at a discount you cannot go wrong. The only downside is going to be a ceiling of 4.0-4.2 all core oc at best (trust me I know) and 3200 mhz memory limits (for the main part). 16 core or less and you can change numa / uma modes etc. TR is a solid way to hit gaming and productivity

It depends on the game, but it won't make much difference in most titles since games are more gpu intensive than CPU.

This has to drop another $100 to have a reason for existence. The power draw, IPC, and max speed of the Ryzen 3rd gen is like a super-tock in generational improvement. Finally, a reason to upgrade from my OCed i7-920 and 4770k rigs laugh out loud

Ryzen 3 is the first time since 2006 that Intel will concede the performance crown in every possible way...not just in value, not just in content creation...everything.

Thy jury is still out on that. My guess is that AMD will come close or match Intel in IPC but the 9700k/9900k will still overclock 400-600 MHZ higher.

Which Intel CPU that has 16 cores currently competes in this price range?

Supposedly the new 3950x doesn't even require a dedicated more expensive motherboard like the Threadripper. That's probably why there's currently no next-gen Threadripper. It was an expensive investment.
I'd wait for the 3950x. I can't wait!
