It looks like you have 2 different equipment. Heater for downstairs and AC for upstairs. You will need one thermostat for each machine, ie 2 Nests or similar.
Gotcha. Since hot air rises, my upstairs and downstairs vary so much in temp, I was planning on replacing the central air one upstairs and using a sensor in the main living to read that temp. Any experience with a Nest sensor vs an Ecobee one?

Got it in stainless steel. Been waiting for a deal on a nest. I have a programmable one but it doesn't automatically switch between heat and cool.

I have this and a Honeywell smart thermostat and this Nest is far superior. At this price, it's a great deal
How so? I'd really like to know.

Double check with your utilities company...they usually offer rebates with purchasing this...not sure if Rakuten would qualify as an approved company though...

If you're competent enough to take the cover off your thermostat and look at the wires then their website can tell you. https://nest.com/support/article/...Thermostat

Thank you, I've been looking at these and just learned about the Ameren program.

I have a 3rd gen nest in ss for sale locally in Houston TX. Only used it for 3 months, and moved to a new house that has ecobee's. I'll cut someone a good deal if they want it.

Home Depot has two Ecobee 4 with two sensors for $340. Ecobee 4 has Alexa embedded in it. Comes to $170 a piece, includes a sensor and built in Alexa. Ecobee supports 2 stage heating plus two stage cooling.

If it's a dampener system with two zones then usually the controller will be fine locking out one zone or the other. May drain battery. I got my controller approved by Nest after putting the work in to check its compatibility.

If your saying your heat and air are different controllers then you need to merge them prior to installing if you want just one control.

You take the thermostat off the wall when you move? I thought it was stupid here in Lancaster PA where they take their Refrigerator and Washer/Dryer when they move from a house.
