Have a 49 inch 4 series right now. This would be a nice upgrade for my Xbox one X. Thinking about it.
I have this 49" 5 series and a 55" 6 series. I would say put the money you would spend here towards the 6 series and keep saving if you have to. I used to have a 4 series and returned it for the 6 which really makes the Xbox one x shine. 5 series is better than the 4 but still it's a moderate upgrade where as the 6 is one of the best sub $1k TV's you can buy.

Yeah, I might wait for the 6 series or whatever comes next as well. I'm in no rush, the 4 series works fine for my needs ATM. I have a 5 series in the living room for mostly generally movie/tv watching and some gaming now and again and it's a great TV. The 6 series is still a little pricey, but I'll keep my eye out.

How is this different that the Costco model?

I just bought this (but haven't used it). Is it worth returning?

The Costco model is a 50" instead of a 49" and is a slightly inferior 4 Series TCL instead of the 5 Series here.

Got this a few months back. It's wonderful. Roku works like a dream. So much better that the fire stick I had. I hooked up an antenna to get local channels and during setup it tells you to add a old Usb thumb drive and it will let you pause and resume your live antenna channels.

Can anyone comment on viewing distance? i have a 42" 1080 LED in my 11x10 room right now, yesterday I bought a vizio e43-f1 (280) + 4 year square trade (34) because everyone says vizio is fraught with issues. I missed out on the 43 TCL 5 last week, can I buy this 49 TCL 5 and have no issues with viewing if I sit 6' away and laying down is 8.5' away? I can probably push the TV back another foot. I heard 4K TV viewing distances can be much shorter than old school 1080 TVs. Sitting or laying down, I view both TVs straight on, so perfect for any VA panel. Should I get a square trade for the TCL like the Vizio? Please share.

The eBay 13% through the app that a previous poster mentioned is 35 off, that's better than my GE suggestion if you don't mind getting the money back in ebay bucks.

If you make a burner google account, you may be required to authenticate it by uploading a drivers license. Google did this to my moms official account, I said screw that, never had an online company ask for a license/passport. So, I can't use her 30 off. It's a crap shoot. The 13% is legit for ebay, placed an order, and can return to BB store if it doesn't work out.

yeah ,I recently purchased the 43" due to foot spread restraints . series 5 . It really does have an excellent picture and the sound isn't half bad also does not feel cheap ,cant beat the price with a metal stick with spikes 180 for me.

Bought the 43" a week ago for $199. SO impressed by the value. I have been using it as my PC/Mac monitor, and the screen real estate is amazing. PC gaming has been especially awesome, and recording/editing in Logic/Garageband has been great. I do not really think I would recommend anyone use this 49" as a "monitor", like I am (it is just too big), but it is a great TV for gaming, streaming content, and the picture quality (for the price) is outstanding.

why? my living room 65" TV is used as a monitor, mostly to stream shows, but resolution and text can be modified to reduce strain. it's only viewing distance and angles that determine what size you should get as a PC monitor.

I was mainly referring to a 49" screen fitting on a standard desk (or mounted directly behind), used as a traditional "monitor" and being too large/impractical. At a standard "desk viewing distance" this is more likely to make you sick, than be helpful. This is just my opinion. I used to use my 70" 4K TV as my PC monitor, but that was in a living room setting with 6'-10' viewing distance, not the 2'-3' you are going to get from your standard desk setup. Like I said, it is just my opinion.. I am all about huge screens, but 49" (for a desk setup) is just too big for myself. If it is a living room setup, hey.. go for it. Actually go BIGGER.
