Here is the link to the patent of this lens. https://ipforce.jp/patent-jp-A-2015-121649
The inventor is 坂井 隆彦 who is a totally Tamron employee. Basically, all Batis lenses are designed by Tamron, made in Japan, and labeled as Zeiss. Also, fun fact, Batis 85mm is basically exactly the same as FE 85 + OIS + Weather sealing.

I suggest you to go check the patent of this lens (or any Batis lens). https://ipforce.jp/patent-jp-A-2015-121649

So it's not worth a Zeiss price.

I wish I had money for this one. This is a very good price! but I just purchased the Sony 28mm with a UWA converter.

Alternatively, you can get it from Adorama on eBay at the same price. Some folks might get 13% cash back this way, or 1% cash back for the rest of us. 1% extra cash back thru Samsung Pay, or maybe 2% thru other site.

Still overpriced for a Tamron, especially when 24GM is out.

Probably, but think of it as a 'lifetime' lens. Meaning if you ever decide to upgrade this would be one of those lenses you'd likely bring along with you. If you'd don't like it you could probably sell it for close to the purchase price.

Really depends on how often you shoot at/around 24mm, your disposable income, etc... as to whether this is a good value for you.

Great lens and glass. However, since I own a Zeiss Batis 18mm... I just can't do it.
