My guy has a tough beard and found this to be true. He, my brother and some of his friends are exceedingly, and oddly, happy with the Venus 2 blade razor. Smilie Shave is smooth and the blades last. I'm a girl, and they are too sharp for me!
I too have a hard and coarse hair. But I just flip the top part of Schick off which exposes the smooth stainless part and I never have a problem anymore. I am from India and I have gifted Schick to many of my friends. One recently told me he only shaves once every 10 days and still using the blade I gave him 2 years ago, lol

I've jumped around a bunch of different razors, usually all from free samples. I was doing harrys for the past couple years. Good blades, nice styling, I liked the company.
I recently got a free fusion5 proshield. I've been really impressed. So smooth, so sharp, easy to clean (I cant stand when the blades don't let water through to remove hair)

so I'd recommend this Gillette Fusion5 ProShield Men's Razor with 2 Razor Blade Refills, Mens Fusion Razors/Blades [amazon.com] - $7.46

Not really a great price for the Mach 3. Though it's cheaper than other options right now this is by no means "slick". For comparison, and yes I know this was a couple years ago, the last time I picked up a Slick Deal on this exact Mach 3 refill:

Order Summary
Item(s) Subtotal: $13.64
Shipping & Handling: $0.00
Subscribe & Save: -$0.68
Gillette Promotion: -$2.73
Your Coupon Savings: -$6.00
Total before tax: $4.23
Estimated tax to be collected: $0.00
Grand Total: $4.23

The above was ridiculous but certainly was "slick" Smilie A decent deal usually should run at least less than $1 per blade IMO. Costco usually puts these on sale every few months which comes in cheaper than this but hey, if you need them NOW here you go!

I do that, but only get about a month.
It will vary on hair type. If you shave thick coarse hair would make sense getting only a month as these razors are not high quality. But hey your doing better than most 👍 all I do is swish it in water for 2 seconds and turn over instead laying it on its face. And weirdly enough when it starts feeling dull and I tell myself I need to change it (but never get around to it) it actually gets good again ..crazy but true.

Ever since the company become politically aligned and decided to insult the people who actually use the product, I been on a quest to find an alternative.

I use the razor to shave my head, and Mach 3 is a very good product that I will no longer be purchasing unless it costs Gillette money. (ie. free or below their cost on promo)

The others I tried:
1. Schick : did not like it, found it to be hard to use. Kept cutting myself.
https://www.schick.com/us/en/men/...ro-3-Razor

2. BIC Flex 2: blades spaced too close together, clogs where Mach3 did not. Blade wears out quicker. Cut myself if use too much force. Needed to shave more often and use less force. But this option is cheap enough that make me want to find a way to work with it.
https://www.dollargeneral.com/bic...-10ct.html

3. Walmart Mach 3 clone not made by Mach 3: fine, does not clog, cheaper, but feel like the shave is not as close. But come very close to replace Mach 3. Their Schick clone sucked.

4. The next one I want to try is defender razor. Seems more expensive at around a dollar a piece but promising.

Thank you, I ordered the "Gillette Fusion5 ProShield Men's Razor Handle w/ 2-Count Razor Blade Refills $6.46".

I needed a second handle and this price is about the same as the discount grocery store (Grocery Outlet) that sometimes carries it.

I get around a 20 pack of 5-blade razors at Costco for around $2.30 each. The ones you posted are probably a better deal. Thanks for sharing.

I've tried the Dorco and they just don't give me the same shave as the name brands do.
I'm with you. Tried Dorco and I had the worst razor burns afterwards. Can't go back.

The Fusion 5 ProShield with 2 extra blades is very slick! I got that simply for the "PROSHIELD" blades. My regular Fusion blades end up being $1.50 each on eBay but the ProShield ones are double that price so I'm excited to try them out on the cheap and see how gimmicky they are (or maybe they are really that great?).

I probably won't even use the handle - I'm happy with my Fusion Power handle. The vibration is a whole different level of shaving. I can't even use it without the vibration anymore.

I use 1 razor a year. Razors do not go dull if you make sure you rinse it out and set it flipped over where it will dry well. Why people need to buy all these razors blows my mind. An 8 pack would last me 8 years. And I just replace yearly by choice not because I have to.
I dispose of a razor every time it is so stuffed w/ curlies that I can't get them out. Maybe we shave different things.

My razors have been lasting a lot longer since I designated one a "Monday" blade and another a "Tuesday-Friday" blade, taking the weekends off.
