Seems like a decent deal. Good timings. Picked up couple to have matching sticks for a cheap laptop I just bought.

Is it worth it to upgrade an aging laptop with anything other than SSD?

Nice. I have a 1 stick 16GB of RAM. I recommend to use a dual channel for laptop.

Given that some laptops only have 1 slot for expandable ram, I'd say you'd max out with 8gb with two of these. You also don't want to go mixing different types of ram if you have two slots or if it's on board already. As mentioned in another thread, dual channel and single channel modes aren't a significant difference so getting one stick of 16gb ram could be worth it as it will be more future proof.
