This is not because of the quality of the deal but due to the presence of some Trolls in the SD forum who used to do thread crapping in every Technical threads and got bashed by me. Whenever I post a deal, whether it is good or not so good, it will have the -ve voting initially before the actual people start noticing it.

The Pavilion is a budget class device. The Spectre is their premium line, both in build and in features. Kind of like the Dell Inspiron compared to the XPS line.

Pavilion (plastic) vs Spectre (Aluminum) chassis

Full HD vs 4K

i7-8550U [intel.com] 1.8Ghz Base Clock vs i7-8705G [intel.com] 3.10Ghz Base Clock

8GB RAM vs 16GB RAM

1 TB HDD vs 512GB NVMe SSD

2GB Radeon DSC 530 vs 4GB AMD RX VEGA M

No Pen vs Active Stylus Included

XPS also has a 15.6" 2-in-1 model with same CPU + GPU but way over priced and the Rams are soldered. Similar configuration for XPS 2-in-1 will cost you near $1800.

Not sure why it got a thumbs down. I got one with less power a year ago for $1k and thought it was a great deal. I would gladly pay $200 for the upgrade to this. Very nice machine.

If you need for 3d rendering desktop is the way to go. You can buy refurbished hp z workstations usually for about the same price from Amazon with two year warranty. You can get a multi core system with a quadro graphics card which are really helpful when you do intensive 3d stuff.

Do the hinges on these models not bother anyone? In my experience they are super flimsy, not at all solid like Dell laptops.
