Is this game worth it for the generation who played red/blue as a kid?

I think you both might better enjoy the upcoming Pokémon Sword/Shield, which is a mainline game (RPG) and comes out later this year.

There is a demo on the eshop. I highly recommend trying it. I played as a kid, and lost interest in the series over the years, but this game didn't do it for me and I'm glad the demo saved me the purchase.

I will probably get Sword/Shield though for sure.

In your shoes & actively play Pokemon Go. I have no regrets not buying Let's Go Pika/Eevee. A few of my friends bought it and while they had some fun, I think Sword/Shield will be worth it later this year!

I would say probably not. If you have a 3DS and you want to play Red Blue Gold Silver Crystal they are all available for digital download (no more dealing with dead game save batteries) and the pokemon transfer back to pokemon bank on the 3DS which means you can likely move them forward at some point in time. You can also get the gameboy color pokemon TCG game on 3DS. If you don't have a 3DS its a pretty cheap system to get these days.

If you want a newer Pokemon game I would wait for sword and shield.

Think of Lets go as the spinoff game. But it might be worth 34.99 or 39.99. That isn't a terrible price. The pokemon from this should also transfer. If you play Pokemon Go on the phone then its definitely a must buy. If you don't play Pokemon Go on the phone then I would skip it, but it might get further price drops, you can pick it up then.

Thanks, I'll try out the demo.

After seeing sword and shield on the nintendo livestream I'm hyped for it. The part between the cities had a very breath of the wild feel to it which i love. And the fact you can see pokemon in the wild is like my childhood dream come true.

This game is a fun jaunty remake of blue/red/yellow but it's really hard to recommend for anywhere close to even this price. I got 27 hours out of it and never picked it up again.

There is a lot more to do after beating the elite 4, but it's a lot of work.
