When I bought my $500 used stock single fan blower cooled 1080ti, I had to turn the fan up, just to enjoy a nice overclock. Took it off and put on a hyper evo cpu cooler, with cable ties for support.
Also around 20 heat sinks over the VRM, and a larger one on the capacitors. All with two 80mm fans cooling them off. To prevent the card from sagging, I propped it up, and heatsink with some twisty ties, and zip ties.
As for temp's, ~55 load, & ~60 deg C overclocked load. Much quieter too.
Why not just get a g12 cooler?

Lucky you! I'm using the mini and to sustain my OC I have to open the side of the case, and run the fans at 100% plus I have the cpu fan from my old Hyper212 running at 100% resting on my PSU shooting air into the GPU lol
I highly recommend anyone with a spare 120-140mm fan lying around to use it for extra GPU airflow Smilie
All you need is an open fan slot in your Mobo and some scotch tapeWink
Get a g12

I have quite a few coolers and fans laying around.
I like to be frugal, and use what I've got.
Well i did have to by a bunch of cheap little vrm heatsinks though.

How's your clock speeds btw
Honestly, I dont even remember. The overclock comes on automatically when MSI afterburner starts up. The Asus bios voltage is pretty much locked, so only maxed out power slider. I think the O'clock was alright. Of I recall correctly, I got more of an overclock compared to my 1060,1070, &1080.
So sorry about not having any mote info ATM.
My PC has been at my friend's house for the last month. I hate moving it around a lot, as it has a giant Evo cooler protruding out. Its just not safe to keep transporting it back and forth. Might be the last time that I take it over.
Even if I had it fully enclosed in a larger case, the vibrations exerted on the card are the trade off.
If I didnt have the cooler laying around, I would have rather opted for a liquid cpu cooler, commonly on sale @ newegg, for around $35-45, and zip tied it on the gpu block. Could I still have used the default cooler to cool the vrms, memory? Probably...with some light modifications. Probably still easier than the route that I took.

pfft you can buy a used 1080ti right off of craigslist for about $400 so no this is NOT worth it.
Yeah, but w/o any protections. If you want to take a gamble on it then that's on you. My sentiment still stands

Hey buddy, I have some magic beans for sale.
magic beans bought.
https://gizmodo.com/if-you-just-b...1836019407

"in our benchmarks, we found that both performed just as well as the much more expensive RTX 2080.

In fact, in a few benchmarks, the 2060 Super and 2070 Super significantly surpass the 2080 in performance

The $400 RTX 2060 Super and $500 RTX 2070 Super are frequently as fast or faster than the $700 RTX 2080.
The 2070 Super will replace the 2070, and the 2080 Super due later this month will replace the 2080. The 2060 will now retail for $350 and the 2060 Super for $400.
If you can afford the extra $50, get the 2060 Super. It's incredible for the price."

Nice callback on the old post, but the 2060 super is not going to surpass the 2080. The 2070 super is even slightly slower in most of the tests. But no one cares about raytracing, that was my main comment point.
