Thanks for the insight! Just to clarify, do you connect the linked OBD unit to a power bank, which then powers the dashcam?
I use this unit with the female USB jack as I can unplug the camera's USB from it and plug it directly into a powerbank. Other OBD units need to be routed to plug in directly to the camera.

Hard wiring can kill your car battery in a couple of days if there is a lot of movement it senses, such as rain or trees in the wind.

I use this OBD unit to connect it to a robust power bank for extended periods or to toggle on/off extended recording while out and about: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...le_o09_s00 [amazon.com]
Neat and clever idea. Thanks a bunch possumlodge.

Careful when u shut off the car. I have one and the last video is always corrupted. The battery doesnt stay long enough to save the file. If you get into an accident and your car shuts off, most likely the video won't be available.

I've never had that issue.

My DR-02 is now on its second summer with no issues. Knock on wood

4K is not 4K. It is interpolated up from 1040p.
Yep. Thats why im afraid to buy 1080/30. It could be 720 or 480 intrrpolated. Lol fk aukey.

is it picky on SD cards?
Cannot stress enough that you want to get a heavy duty SD card that can tolerate vibration and heat. If the card fails to work you've wasted all your time and effort. I'll do a cheap cam all day but never a cheap and slow SD card. You want a card designed for video recording so that evidence is pristine should you go to court or involve law enforcement.

Is this better of the Viofo ones?
No, Viofo is better IMO and worth the extra money. Has better image quality and more features.

64 or 128 Samsung Endurance cards are insanely cheap now. There is no reason to use anything else.

No app, no Wifi. No complaining to some company in China if it breaks. 2 year US warranty.

Definitely the supercapacitor one. Stay away from battery if you're in real hot climates
