This camera does not support buffered recording during parking mode, only impact protection. And hardwire kits shut the camera off once a certain voltage is reached. I've used hardwire kits in all of my cars without issue.
This is why I keep it running in public parking. I don't need to do this at home.

There's a reason crappy dashcams use batteries. All dashcams don't run on batteries or capacitors, which are only for saving recordings if the power goes off:

32 is too small. I recommend at least a 64, 128 preferable.

the aukey takes up to 128gb but some dash cams take up to 32gb or 64gb so make sure you read the specs. for typical 1080p/30fps recording, 64gb gives you roughly ~10 hours of recording time.

i've used bunch of high end dash cams in the past (thinkware, inavi, lukas, mando) and while they offer bunch of features (some neat, some gimmicky) and slightly better video quality, it wasn't worth it. now i have 5 of these aukeys (dr01 and dr02) on all my cars and no issues whatsoever. plus, aukey has great customer service.

I've been using the model AUKEY DR02J 4K Dash Cam listed above for about 6 months now and love it.

Instead of running an obtrusive USB cable, I bought the AUKEY ODB accessory to plug the Mini USB to my vehicle's ODB port by my pedals. Ran the cabling across the headboard and underneath the side pillars for a clean look.

Recording starts moment I enter the car. Turns off about 10 minutes after I leave the car. Motion sensor on ODB keeps the cam alert when parked and records when it senses nearby movement. Never had any issues with car battery even when idle for multiple days with frequent idle recording.

Overall so far very happy with product. Been using it in sunny/hot Los Angeles mounted on the glass 24/7 with no issues. I forget I even I have a dash cam at times, which I think is a good thing.

I just wish they had the DR02J variant that is compatible with a rear dash.

I use this unit with the female USB jack as I can unplug the camera's USB from it and plug it directly into a powerbank. Other OBD units need to be routed to plug in directly to the camera.
So you use OBD while driving and switch to powerbank for parking mode? I have not setup for parking mode, so want to know what is best way of doing it.

Parking monitoring is carried out by detecting a moving object in the frame or a time interval. You need to set it to ON each time.

However, if it rains with rain streaming down the windshield or wind is blowing making trees move, this will essentially not shut off. This is why I use a power bank if parking for many days, such as at an airport.

No. The DR02D uses a proprietary cable to connect the two, you can't buy the rear cam separately, and the single front units don't have those connections.
