I see Nintendo's requirements for switch are uhs1 but would something faster actually load noticeably quicker?

yes, a u3 card will load considerably faster vs a u1 card.

i got 2 gskill microsd cards crapped out on me after a couple years. so either backup frequently or go with samsung/sandisk (still, back up please).

Hmmm....alright I'm game. $4 cheaper than the better lexar card from B&H and Adorama. But I think this will be enough for my needs.
