New to the DSLR game and I mostly do automotive photography. I currently have a T6i and want to get a wider lens from my 50mm. Will this work with my camera?

Yes, but you're still on a crop sensor camera; so instead of the full 35mm, you'll be getting closer to 56mm.

Get a Canon 10-18mm or 10-22mm. If you want a faster wide angle lens, get a Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8

Isn't that in the $300ish price range, what's the difference this brings?

Looks like Sigma trying to saturate the market with their 35mm before the release date of the Tamron 35mm F1.4..

As above, this will work but just be sure of the crop sensor magnification.

I used to take automotive pics too and if I were you, i'd spend the money on a nifty fifty (50mm 1.8), a really good tripod (that doesn't mean $$$, a Neewer tripod with a ball head will run you like $75 and does a great job - You don't need a Manfrotto to start), and a ultra wide angle zoom (11-16mm or 10-20mm). With car photography, the car is the focal point, but what background is almost always in focus and adds tremendous value to a photo.

From what i've read, the sharpness, focusing speed and actual IQ is far superior. I LOVE my sigma 30 1.4 and it's worth it's weight in gold, but lately I've been craving those attributes and i'm trying to warrant the $ spend to my wife laugh out loud If you're in the market for this type of prime and don't have the budget, I would not hesitate to recommend the EX series. You'll find them nowadays for even cheaper than $300. I shoot on Nikons and have done many a tests against actual Nikkor lenses and find the bokeh and IQ much more appealing to me (having tested Nikkor 50 1.4 Ai D and G, 50 1.8 and 1.8D and the 35 1.8)
