5. Next year get the same card in your spouse's name or other cards in your name. Do steps 1-4 for the new cards.
6. Keep doing this for card bonuses again and again over the years.

CP is good for the remainder of the year you earn it and the following calendar year. The best way to play it is to spend in late December so the bonuses posts in January of the next year so you have it for just shy of 2 years.

You can only obtain so many promotional offers within each card family, so you have to close cards and then wait a certain amount of time in order to be eligible for new promotions. Not exactly 'recycling,' but I'm pretty sure that's what the poster was referring to...

So I know the 80K counts towards the companion pass. Do the points from purchases also count towards companion pass? For instance the $5K we need to spend does that net another 5K points towards the 110K needed for companion pass?

Also do any of these points count towards A List or A List preferred?

Any spending on the card counts towards companion, but not A List.

I am looking to get companion towards the end of the year, so I'll keep my eyes on this. But unless you really needed the Global Entry/Pre-Check bonus, much easier to hit companion with 1 personal SWA and 1 biz SWA card when those hit 50k bonus each. Then you'd need to only spend 10K total between the two cards to get companion. We'll see what Chase offers towards the end of the year.

I've seen people talk about getting bonuses from two cards to reach the companion pass status, but doing it in a way to get the companion pass in the current at as well as the next. How do you do that?

Business cards don't fall under the 5/24 rule.
