How soon can you pay off your loan -
It depends on when the dealer submits your info. Keep calling the 800-428-4034, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern, there is an automated option which lets you get payment info using your social. Once this option works (if the dealer hasn't submitted your info, it will say it can't find your info), you can use the option to reach a human who can provide you your account number.

After calling VW Credit to get your account number:
1. opt out of all sharing of information with affiliates and contractors
2. get my account info and register online at VWCredit.com

You will be able to pay it off all online. Once you login:

1. Click "Payment Options"
2. Click "Payoff Quote"
3. Click "Online Payoff"
4. Click "Payoff My Vehicle"
5. Choose your options where you want the Title delivered, then click "Continue"
6. Enter your bank information and click "Continue"
7. That should do it. And then wait 7-10 days for the Title in the mail.

For all the SE owners disappointed with the lack of a heat pump, here's a nice option: assuming you bought your car in 2019, trade-in your SE for the SEL. You can claim the federal credit again on the new car (when you file 2020 taxes). Based on your negotiation skills, this will essentially get you the SEL for under $1k or so. Of course, you probably won't be able to claim state credits for the SE in states where there is a minimum time requirement, but I think even otherwise this is an insane deal. But you can apply for state credits on the new car Smilie

Nice thought. However I am surprised that you only went over by $1K. What was the base price you paid for SEL? Taxes will be a killer.

Actually tax will not be a killer, because trade-in reduces tax Smilie Here's an example (you can get a better deal based on your negotiation skills):

SEL MSRP: 39790
Discount: 9500 (9000 + 500 partner; not as good as the 11000 people were getting in August and completely depends on how you negotiate)
Sale price: 30290
Trade-in: 22000 (this value depends on your negotiation skills; trade-in also reduces tax)
Total out of pocket: 8290 <- you only pay tax on this part in most states

2020 tax filing should get you $7500 federal back which means the upgrade from an SE to an SEL costs $790 before TTL.

Where r u based out of? I know in NY trade in value was deducted from the price and I paid tax on the balance but I was told that is not the case in CA.

Not in CA, so not sure. But it seems like CA doesn't allow deductions since 2019 (http://www.realcartips.com/sellin...edit.shtml)

Thanks for the link. It was a surprise for me when I traded in my car last year.

Extremely hard to find a SE in stock; and none of the dealers would do 11k off. The maximum they are willing to do now is around 8k.

Thanks for the input, sounds dead to me. I'm willing to travel regionally, but I think this is a you-snooze you-loose. For 8k off and a SEL, I rather just buy a leaf, which is really a nicer car.

Received an offer of 29K after discount for SEL but only could negotiate 21K for the SE trade in (5k miles). I think it is still a good deal but is it worth the hassle? Also cannot find the color I wanted. Will update if I actually pull it.

Assuming you will have atleast 7500 tax liability in 2020, and are in a state where your trade-in will reduce tax, I think it's a good deal. At the end, upgrading to the SEL will cost you 29k-21k-7500 = $500 + TTL. Not only do you get a better car (LED headlights, leatherette seats, heat pump, navigation, digital cockpit, lane keep assist, park assist, etc) the resale value of the SEL will also be better over the years.
