I kind of want to bite on TMNT, but it'll probably never get watched, sit on the shelf, and get snide comments by my wife anytime she looks through the shelf for a movie to watch

This site needs a block user function. If there is, I can't find it. Don't need to see ramblings of hate toward something. Hate something, one post is enough.

That said. I kind of want Turtles, Twilight Zone and The Americans. A good mix of everything, haha.

Personal and HARD opinion, DVDs still exists is one of the signs of DOWNFALL OF (modern) SOCIETY!

We have 8K now, and they are still selling DVDs!?!!? Refuse to move on, embracing the future UGH!!

I have gave up on DVDs for over 5-10 years years at least now. Don't want any, even if it's $1.

Love TMNT to death, but companies MUST evolve!
Are you advocating digital film by any chance?

Tempted by the Americans. Really enjoyed the show, but some of the eps were really slow to get through. Not sure how it would do on a rewatch. Might be easier since I know what's coming.

Also, NO way digital format comes close to the quality of actual physical format!!

I will gladly pay $40+ for that TMNT set in 4K in physical format anytime! No digital, NO Blu-ray and certainly NO DVD!!!
Buy the rights to a show like TMNT, "up-convert SD archive to 4k," then release it as a 4k blu-ray. Show the world how beautiful and profitable the result is. Then maybe none of the other companies will stop being "stupid" and continue to release old SD broadcasts on inexpensive DVDs.

First, thumbs up to the OP for giving links to both Walmart (the leader) and Amazon (the pricematching follower) items. That is appreciated, and I will always support a local store, even Walmart, over a monster like Amazon.

I have this Rock & Bullwinkle set ($20 from J&R Music if anyone remembers them): https://www.amazon.com/Rocky-Bull...B00465I1BA

Is it the same content as the one in this deal? It has the same number of discs, but the running time is different. None of the first few pages of reviews mentioned if it was just a repackage of the old set or different content.

I'm not sure why anyone would get the Fraggle Rock DVD series when the Bluray set is $10 more: https://www.amazon.com/Fraggle-Ro...B07F7W7WWG

Sadly the Americans is only available on DVD for physical format, just like later seasons of Modern Family. Later seasons of The Simpsons aren't available at all. Good old Fox. I doubt Disney will improve things... most likely just raise prices.

No, how about just upscale everything to 4K physical format and sell it?

I honestly don't get ANY one still going for DVDs! It's a BEYOND DEAD format IMO

I sympathize with your anti-DVD stance, but you are wishing for the moon. DVD outsells Bluray and there aren't enough 4K/Bluray sales to force companies to start to care about evolving. They care about the bottomline profit and too many people don't care about A/V quality. If we ever got a TMNT Bluray or 4K set, it would be a lot more than $40... probably double or triple that.

Digital streaming of HD Bluray at a lower bitrate than physical Bluray should still look better than physical SD DVD, except possibly during transitions/skys where the compression becomes visible. When will Vudu have The Americans complete series HDX on sale for $25? The answer is probably never unless I buy The Americans on DVD in which case Vudu will put it on sale on the 91st day after my purchase (because Walmart's return window is 90 days).

If I had Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet, one of my snaps would be to replace all DVD players with Bluray or 4K players and eliminate all future DVDs from existence requiring only Bluray or 4K for new releases, but that's just a dream. I believe physical media will die and become very scarce, expensive and niche because most people will go to digital, plus that's what Hollywood wants. Too bad so many people weren't willing to pay $40 + tax for the yearly Bluray player at Walmart on BF, but they just don't care and keep buying DVDs supporting the format that we both wish would die out. At least an upscaled DVD is watchable. Every time I get sad that DVD seems to be winning over Bluray and 4K, I remind myself to be thankful that widescreen won over pan & scam. That is a miracle too, but probably because widescreen TVs got cheap enough that everyone owns them now.
