Started looking at this to replace an old Toshiba Chromebook 2. Price originally at $279, then I saw a rollback to $249, so I decided to check one out in the store. Last one in the locked up cage behind the counter was marked $139.

It has a nice, bright full-hd IPS screen. The B&O soundbar above the keyboard is pretty nice. Amazing battery, too.

Also something interesting to me is the charger looks like the usual power brick (45w), but it has a USB-C connector. The Chromebook itself has a USB-C on each side. Presumably to allow charging a phone/tablet.

QA Edit: YMMV, in store only

I'm not crazy about the snow white look. Maybe it will grow on me, but I did find this which I believe is compatible for those interested.

Too bad no touch screen. But the USB-C is positive.

Confirm the USB C charging works. Charged it off my car power adapter.

Brickseek said my store had limited supply. They did not have any space for it on display. It took some persistence to get the clerk to check all the HP 14" boxes in the cage behind the counter. But they found one. Now brickseek showed $139 for this store, but the in-store register scanner said $199. I suggested that maybe the price had just dropped in past day or two and this store's computers did not update yet. GOOD NEWS: the clerk persisted and poked around in the store handheld price device (some phone running an app?) and found a screen that did show the $139 price. They called the manager over to adjust it at retail with an override. It may have helped that I spoke that the Snow White one was an oddball color as they didn't even have it on display and it was kind of sensible that they had it on clearance. Before I walked into that store, I don't think they even knew they had that particular model in their store.

Chromebooks are overpriced hardware in my view, so I had been looking for months to find a decent 1080p one. The IPS screen on this one is the strong point, but as others have noted - no touch screen.

My suggestion is: tell them to look at all the HP 14" boxes, skipping the 15.6" boxes. The box for this unit is green-blue (teal?) on the sides. Other HP boxes are black or plain-brown box color.

do we know the end of life on these I know traditionally it was like six years six and a half years but I can't get a real exact release date on this one or find any official end of life update type notice. my wife is still running her Acer c720 and loves it but I think that's end-of-life is in August of this year so was considering as a replacement

seems like it is a G5 so goes until 2023 from what I can tell.

I just read as of now there are Chromebook that expired in 2018 EOL getting updates. For what it is worth.

Thanks OP. Didn't find any at stores that showed limited stock, but found 3 at another store showing 2 in stock. That store still had it on display and a $269 tag. It rang up $139. Perfect birthday gift for my wife whose hand me down laptop has seen better days.

Nice find, thank you OP. Too bad, all the stores around me are sold out or have limited stock. Not worth a trip based on past experience. The workers there are too lazy to search for them.
