Looking at the Uber card price protection terms, that card is limited to 4 price protection claims per year at a maximum of $250 per claim. Citi had an unlimited amount of claims up to $1000 total claim value or $250 per claim max also. The limit of 4 claims does not work for me.

Oh man. The loss of Damage & Theft and Extended warranty is much worse than Price Rewind. Costco card just became useless.

Citi PM has been neutered for some time but given its popularity it did seem inevitable.

I imagine this benefit will be gone from the remaining cards that have it as well over the next 1-2 years. Discover, Chase and Citi were the major card issuers that had it. There will be no reason to keep it as a benefit on the lesser known cards, especially if everyone hops over and abuses it.

Correction: Whereas Price Rewind is gone everywhere, Costco Card does NOT lose Damage & Theft and Extended Warranty (see screenshot attachment). It would seem like all Citi Cards are not being treated equally.

the costco card probably has limitations from costco.

though that might mean citi might not keep it once the contract is over.

Talk to the people here who price matched OLED TVs to shady bait and switch retailers they never would have bought from in a million years.

Naah, they were doing that for years without a problem.

The death of this benefit isn't because folks were doing a very few big price rewinds a year-

it's because of the development of automated rewind sites where people were doing 100+ small rewinds on every damn thing they bought each year.

Each claim has a fixed overhead for the company- doing a ton of them is very expensive.

wait, what?

2 year extended is THE reason to buy things on a Citi card...

Ah, wait here we go:

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/ci...ction-etc/

2 year warranty is not being removed from any cards other than Double Cash and Dividend cards.

So between 2 year warranty and 4th night free still worth it (for travelers anyway) to hang on to their Citi Prestige cards.

I used this for everything because why wouldn't I? If they really had a problem with the quantity of Price Rewinds, they'd just change it to 10/year limit and most people would be perfectly fine with that including me. They got rid of it because there's no one else that offers it anymore.

Good. I was going to say, Costco would not be too happy with Citi if they removed everything, as the extended warranty benefit is highly promoted.

Bummer...I book my cruises through Costco for that travel insurance. Wonder if I only need it booked by cut off date or it has to be paid in full to get that protection.

Likely fully paid. Looks like I need to start getting other insurance for cruises or just take the risk.

how to abuse? screenshot cheating?
That's fraud

There were services that for a fee (25% of what they saved you) would auto monitor and auto submit price rewinds.....in many cases the "match" they found would be a totally different item but would pass validation SOMEHOW. I tried a search and the first 2 items matched were totally wrong yet approved....I decided to delete my account because I didn't want citi coming back and saying I was knowingly submitting wrong items....now I see I should have just enjoyed the ride cause citi was gonna screw us all anyway.

Edit: I do have a Fidelity Visa -- Does this have extended warranty? I'm not seeing it on their product page.

Can I Product Change to a different citi card to remain warranty benefit?

If I do this, would I lose the warranty on my current products?

Costco card will keep some benefits

You will continue to have Worldwide Car Rental Insurance, Roadside Assistance Dispatch Service, Travel & Emergency Assistance, Damage & Theft Purchase Protection and Extended Warranty on this account. You can view Your Guide to Protection Benefits on this site under "Quick Links". It contains complete coverage details, including coverage limits, what's covered and what's not covered. Coverage details for these remaining benefits are not being changed.
As a cardmember, you will also continue to receive a range of other card benefits including FICO® Credit Score, Citi® Identity Theft Solutions, and Citi Entertainment.
