I might be wrong but Windows Phone could run only certain applications developed for it, but Surface Go will run any app you run on your Windows desktop/laptop/etc. Of course resource intensive apps like games, video editing, etc. might be sluggish or wont run but from compatibility point of view.

Also, I forgot my friend said it ships with Windows S mode, just switch out from Windows S mode - https://www.windowscentral.com/su...-10-s-mode or https://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=ccB-5UZWYdw

The thing is with S Mode you can only run apps from Windows/Microsoft Appstore.

For anyone wondering about S mode this is not a problem; this can be disabled for free via the device's settings:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-...-of-s-mode

it is completely free.

I tried this, quite liked it but understand that this does not include the keyboard or pen, thats going to cost you about $100 more.

I wonder if they want this to be a college laptop replacement? Cheaper than both the ipad Pro or regular Surface.

I wouldn't buy this. It is so laggy, but I'd go for 8gb and 128gb version. This over iPad any day for school. Apple can't get their act straight with mouse/file explorer.

This is very small tablet. I can imagine it to be a sidekick but depending on the coursework, I would recommend you to look at Surface Pro tablet or my favorite Surface laptop if you are keen on Windows. My wife just switched from pro tablet to laptop for her school and she loves it.

It is great for traveling with. If you aren't going to use the pen then don't bother though. Plus if you are looking for a media consumption type tablet then I'd look elsewhere.

The SAVE15 code knocks 15% off the $349 price (at least as of 45 minutes ago) so that brings it down to $296.65. I assume OP added his tax in the $314 in the title. But for me in California it comes to $324 once you add tax in.
