$20 cheaper than last time and the $30 promo card. It's decent if you need something right now...

I have this exact computer. I suggest getting an extended warranty. I've had a few issues with mine... otherwise it is a very good computer but the power connection on the left side of the computer sometimes connects and disconnects with very little movement

Bought the grey one a month ago from Walmart. Had the sleep bug, no wake from sleep until reset button pressed. Turned off sleep in settings as an option. Works great otherwise. No other issues. Daughter gets 6-7 hrs of video, browsing and chat with battery to spare. Great deal for the price. Haven't needed to add ram as of yet. I would buy it again. Actually thinking about it now. Would give little one my HP pavilion 13.3 I picked up recently. She has had her eye on it since I took it out of the box.

i have this laptop as well i had to get it sent to acer twice for the battery because it kept shutting down on it's own, the battery would overheat somehow idk. Also why the hell are the speakers on the bottom of the laptop.

Thinking about buying, fits exactly my criteria. I want a new one in the range of 1-2 weeks. Should I wait for the 4th of July deals or do you guys think there is nothing better coming?

I have the i5 version of this, the only other difference being it came with 1TB HDD + 16GB Optane, which I immediately swapped out for a 500GB NVME SSD. Great build quality (especially at this price), great upgradability (aside from the bottom cover being a little difficult to remove). Fantastic benchmark performance (my i5 gets higher benchmark scores than most i7-8550Us), doesn't throttle, pretty quiet, good battery life (6-8 hrs). Very light for a 15.6-incher - my kitchen scale says 3.78 lbs (that's with just the M.2 drive, 2.5-inch bay empty).

RAM is a single stick of 8GB, with one slot free. Hardly anyone really needs 16GB, but RAM is cheap now so I added another stick of 8GB to make it dual-channel.

Wifi is 2x2 and Intel (7265) which is better than Realtek and the like.

USB-C is data only, it does not do Display Port nor can you charge the laptop with it.

Screen is decent rather than great - it's matte and IPS, but max brightness isn't great, forget about using outdoors. However, it's still night and day better than any TN screen on most laptops in the <$500 range. Also for some reason after going to sleep sometimes the brightness control doesn't work, requires a reboot to bring them back. But other than that it's been flawless. I updated the BIOS right after getting the computer and have not come across the battery reset issue some reported.

In very quiet environments I can notice a subtle chirp - it's periodic, about every 10 seconds. Slightly annoying in very quiet environments, but I've used enough laptops with coil whine way worse than this.

The gold is lighter than depicted on the picture (as least on my display), more of a champagne gold. I would've preferred silver but I don't find the gold obnoxiously blingy.

With the i5's strong performance, I wouldn't pay a premium for the i7, but if the SSD in this unit is big enough for you then this is a good deal. Otherwise, keep an eye on the i5 model at Office Depot - I bought it for $470 but it was as low as $400 late last year.

That must be a different computer, as the power adapter connects on the right side of the computer, as you can clearly see in Newegg's pics. I've had no issue with unintentional disconnections. The connection feels very firm, and when I tried jiggling it just now, the computer remained on AC power.

Seems like a really solid deal. Weighing ~3.75 LB's which for a 15.6" laptop is pretty good. Debating buying now or waiting for the i5 Office Depot deal since I don't need that much CPU power.

Do you know what's the Office Depot i5 deal?

Interesting...that's usually related to the mechanical hard drive parking it's head from overly aggressive power management, but in your case you took out the mechanical hard drive. Wonder where it's coming from.

I bought the i5 version of this laptop last year, with 256gb of nvme ssd, which I suspect this one also has. The computer has been working great for over a year, truly a fantastic laptop. I expected the price to have dropped a bit more than this, but perhaps it's still selling for a decent price due to the good feedback people give this.

No, just what the above poster said. If the i5 version of this laptop goes on sale for ~$400-$450 that would be a solid deal. I'm going to keep an eye out for that.

Otherwise the specs on this laptop look great, only real drawback is the lack-luster screen. Weight, CPU, RAM, NVME SSD and upgradability all seem great for the price.
