Might want to add it's the SATA SU800 model to the title.

In for a 256GB to use as an external drive on my PS4 Pro. Stock harddrive is too slow to load games. I don't want to spend $100 on a 1TB replacement for the internal unit. I dont play enough games (3-4 a year) to warrant the investment.

How is this one comparing to the Crucial MX500?

Great drive for the price. Had a 120gb model for years with no issues and recently bought the 500gb version. Thinking of getting another one for raid 0!

A really good upgrade for the pro is the 2tb firecuda. It was worth around $70 I think I spent for shorter load times on some games and the 2tb is enough space for the games I play.

This has been my drive of choice for upgrading family laptops and PCs. For the speed vs price with DRAM it has been hard to beat. However, the MX500 has been dropping down on sale here and there and if within a few $$ I would choose that over this drive.

With that said, this is not particularly a slick deal or you could call it a common slick deal. Maybe for Amazon it's solid, but these SSDs have been on sale somewhere (mainly Rakuten or MassGenie) for less for most of this year. Especially the 500GB. I do think the 1TB is a great value here. This is also good for those that don't want to step outside of Amazon.

Yea this has been cheaper on Rakuten for the past month or so. With their 15% off coupon code it comes out to about $45 before tax.
Sorry Amazon, you lose.

Just got the 1TB model today and after installed Hard Disk Sentinel. HDS shows 1 hour of power-on time and 874.09GB lifetime. Is this correct? Screenshot at https:// ibb.co /2dPJr3x

I picked up the 256 during the last sale and I am very happy with its speed, kinda wish I would have gone for a bigger size.
