Its a good price, gen 1 its not hard to find under 100$ though.
Might be better to wait for amazon primeday on july 15, they usually have the best deals on amazon products.

Hmmm. 1st gen or spring for show 5? I already have the 2nd gen in the kitchen. I'm looking to do a ring system in the future. Will this work for ring doorbell too? So close to prime day. I may just wait, but it'd be nice to put upstairs and use with Ring.

Maybe wait for a prime day sale on the show 5.

I have the original show (in white) and it's been great.

All I ever see "shown" are calendar or weather info. What do they "show" that's actually useful and even worth $70?

You can view Ring camera devices. I don't do it a lot, but...

I use this to view calendar, shopping lists, weather, ring cameras, and kiddos like to use to spell words and view shows.

They didn't and they do even less now. When I got mine I was pretty excited for it, but literally within one day of my receiving it the ability to use Youtube was removed. The things shown are typically random ads for news sites or other tabloid news, which was useless for me, but if it's your thing maybe you'd like it. They then pushed out a software update that basically made reading the weather and time, the only useful things left for it, nearly impossible unless you plan on having it right next to you, and instead it would display large (about 80% of the screen) ads that also hijacked the background display so there is this constantly flashing device showing useless information.

Unless you have a very specific use case for it, such as smart locks or some other video based use, these are very useless. You'd be better served just getting a regular echo.

And before the apologists chime in and say that Youtube is supported again, opening a web browser and launching a Youtube web page that requires physical interaction is not Youtube support.

I bought it for $50 used last time. Arrived in perfect condition. However, I find it to be pretty pointless. It's pretty much a fancy food timer in the kitchen. I also holler at it from across the room to adjust my Nest temperature when I'm too lazy to pick up my phone or stand up. Like a true athlete.

Does this pop up the video feed automatically when ring doorbell is activated with motion or actual ringing of doorbell?
