This is a great deal on a very nice looking Chromebook. I bought one of these models a few months ago. After much deliberation I returned it. It was such a great value and checked all the boxes for what I wanted. I was tempted to keep it but I just couldn't get past the fact that I really hated the screen. I have a couple of older Acer's that don't have touchscreen and I watch a lot of TV on them. I love the crisp, bright, matte screens that they have. These newer Acer's with the touchscreen have a shiny surface and it feels like there is sort of a darker filter on them. I kept feeling like I needed to turn the brightness up a notch but I couldn't because that is the way it is on full brightness. It drove me a little bonkers in the short time I had it, so I returned it. Also, if you are looking for something lightweight this is also not one of it's attributes. I wish I had read the following review before buying it.

Hopefully they have a display model in the stores so you can check it out before buying it.

I've been wanting to own a Chromebook, kind of just because I haven't owned one before. Are there benefits of going with Chromebooks compared to an older xps13-9343 I have for mostly casual browsing, and PDF reading? Or maybe I should just save the money for better use somewhere else?

Try a chromebook - trust me you will not go back because of the superior experience. Although this one is a little under-powered with 11000 octane as compared to the others out there but IMO it should still work for your needs.

These are nice Chromebooks for a good deal, but fark Google and all their work to kill off adblocker extensions. They only look to control and track people and they get to do it for cheap here.

Has anyone gotten Windows to work on this one?

No official support listed at: https://www.reddit.com/r/chrultra...his_first/

It's an apollo lake processor so theoretically should work but getting everything to work might be a chore (sound, touchscreen, touchpad, etc)

Anyone concerned about adblockers being killed off: use a hosts file (if you're on Windows) to block ads + known malicious sites. If you're on a Chromebook or Android, there's VPNs that block ads, including some "fake" VPNs such as AdGuard.

There's always a way to block ads, regardless of what Google does. Since many ads also deliver malware and not just spyware, it's a good idea to block them as much as possible.

Yes, I'm running win10 on it. Not the fastest laptop I've had, but for this price, it's a steal!

Thanks, did you get all the standard features to work on Windows? (Touchscreen, sound, touchpad, bluetooth, etc). Did you just use the standard chrubuntu resources to install it?

Definitely one of the nicer looking Chromebooks. I didn't have an issue with the glossy screen but I didn't get to view it with real direct light plus it was locked into the display so viewing angle tests were limited. It was more than this price though.

Nice! Could you point us in the direction of how you did this? If a MrChromebox firmware, could you tell us which one? Is dual-boot Chrome/Windows 10 supported?
