Could be completely off base but really doesn't seem too good of a deal. Going off of deals I've seen on here the past week or two, I could get the 2 r625FAs for $550 and r12swi for $230. So that leaves the bookcase pairs and r52c center and receiver for $2000 - $$780 = $1220. Hardpass on that

People are all over the place on Atmos. I don't have it but I've been wondering about that when compared to 5.1 or even a good 3.1

The RX-A2080 is a 1599.99 receiver at MSRP.. This seems like a decent deal

Been patrolling for awhile and that receiver really put me over. Easy purchase for me... Now if the Android TV apps will just catch up with the audio formats I'll be over the moon.

Haha, I have the RX-A3080 for which I paid 1250 for at Adorama, and it's pretty great.

I would suggest concentrating on a good 5.1 set up. You would want one 1st before upgrading to Atmos anyways IMO.

where are you getting this receiver ..the bookshelves and center for $1220?

I seen deals on this receiver only for $1000

so you are saying you can get the bookshelf pair and the center for $200

where?

It does but not the fancy omelettes like my 3080, I am sure you can get by a sausage from mcd everyday.

Any s***tiing on who- you can build a better system than this for 2K, music or movies. Look in to a brand new 3080 deal for 1299 and build a 5.1 no need for the number of speakers. Look into ascend acoustics, philharmonic or just good old pioneers or jbls with better specs. Better isn't subjective when you are talking speakers, either they can do it or they don't..

Well I would beg to differ with
"Better isn't subjective when you are talking speakers".
This is all very subjective, especially when it comes to speakers.

If you're recommending spending $1299 on a AVR from a budget of 2k on building a surround system, I would disagree with that also.
Speakers produce the sound you hear, your AVR has much less to do with that.
If you want quality sound your better off spending most of your budget on speakers IMO.
What that quality is, is completely subjective to each person IMO.
