Craftsman T210 Tight Turn Hydrostatic Mower with 42" deck for $1599.

These have a 5" turning radius. The hydrostatic transmission allows you to move both forward and backward as you're mowing. These also have a high back seat and a front bumper bar.

So my old Troy Built died about a week ago. It lasted 16 years, so today I went out to buy a mower. After some research, I had narrowed it down to John Deere, Cub Cadet, and Craftsman. After it was all said and done, I ended up purchasing this one today and this is a good price on it. These are made by MTD, which is the same company that makes Cub Cadet and Troy Built mowers. I looked at a pretty bright yellow Cub Cadet XT1 Enduro and I would've had no problem buying it but wanted to look at the John Deere and Craftsman before making a decision. Although I know the Deere is reliable, the seat sat lower and wasn't as comfortable, plus the chute comes out too far for me due to having a 48 inch gate, and this would've been pushing it. Last one I looked at was this T210. Lowes didn't even have one out and it took almost 2 hours before they had one out of the box for me to look at. It's was pretty much the $1700 Cub Cadet I had looked at, but with more features including a the tight turn feature, front bumper, and higher backrest on the seat. I love the Yellow Cubs, but these look nice with some nice black highlights around the mower. Anyway, just wanted to share my experience. IMO, this is the best bang for your buck below $2K. 10 percent off additional if you're military/veteran.

In the market as well, but from what I've been reading the T240 may be worth the upgrade primarily for the V-twin engine. Not sure if anyone has thoughts on the T210 vs T240

I'm sure that's a good deal too. I wasn't looking at 46" decks because I have 48" fence gates, and the chute/guard usually comes out a few inches past the deck when you lift it up. On the T210 the guard was just about even when I lifted it. With the JD, it was right at 48" with the guard. I don't think you can go wrong with either Craftsman. Good luck with it. Smilie

Does it have a floating deck ? The OP mentions a 5" turning radius.....Inconceivable ?

Pretty sure it's a 13 gauge stamped steel fixed deck, but I did find a video that shows the tight turn feature. [youtube.com]

6" is amazing ...you could mow around a flag pole. I need a floating deck for toys, pets and rose bushes ; )

I have four hounds (2 Bassets, 2 Beagles) and 2 Siamese cats that like to be out in the yard. It's all good as long as I don't mow over them or anything they drag outside. And believe me, they drag stuff outside, especially toys and bones.

I do like the ZT mowers, but that's a nice jump in price for that feature. Agreed it's better, but at this price point, I couldn't find anything better with a 42 inch deck.

Only if you take a 5" left turn at Albuquerque.

When my son was younger he left a small aluminum t-ball bat out of the yard and then the leaves fell on it in the fall and I ran over it with my John Deere mower. It sent that son of a bitch flying across the yard like I don't know what. I still have it... The bat has a massive slice in the middle of it

one other time I ran over a lacrosse ball because I just didn't care... It came out like a son of a bitch also and hit my aluminum shed and put a massive dent in it and then continue to fly another 40 or maybe 50 ft across the yard after bouncing off the shed

I have an older 46" version of this mower. I bought it 01/2016. It has been great. The best part for me is the cast iron front axle. On all of my other mowers, I would eventually bend the front axles. The axles on this one have been bulletproof. I also like the auto transmission & tight turning radius.

I almost did that. If I would've bought the Cub Cadet at TSC, they don't do free delivery and I'm 2.5 miles away. At 5.5 mph, wouldn't have taken long.
