Amazon App first time users - $25 in Promotional Credit (YMMV Targeted Email for Prime Members Only)

Just got this in my email and figured I'd pass it along to anyone else who's never used the Amazon App before and hasn't looked in their Promotional Emails lately. Not sure the protocol on posting something like this, but wouldn't want anyone to miss out on it.

Seems pretty straightforward and is essentially a "deluxe" version of the old $10 for using the app for the first time promo. In addition to the $10 you get $10 if you make a purchase before August as well as $5 if you use the app's Alexa and Camera feature. Doesn't seem to be a minimum purchase either so you can get an item with a value of up to $25 free and clear if I didn't miss anything in the rules.

From the Rules:

In the offer period, eligible Prime customers (excluding Prime Members participating in free trial of Prime subscription) who sign in to Amazon's shopping app for the first time will receive a promotion code for $10 USD, make a purchase in the app for the first time will receive a promotion code for $10 USD, or when use camera and Alexa features in the app for the first time will receive will receive $5 USD, to use towards purchases in accordance with these terms.

Ploy is for you to do more shopping as the app is always with you, assuming you take your phone everywhere you go. Smart move for Amazon.

Make sure to use the Alexa features to get the extra $5. Turn it on, do a voice search and then use the camera to snap a photo of a book or a cereal box or something. Should take you all of one minute.

Yeah, they really want you to see how easy that camera is to use. Snap a photo of pretty much any product in the store and they're hoping if their price beats the one in front of your face you choose Amazon instead.

I mean, I'll hand it to 'em, the thing works well. It's not going to change my spending habits though, lol.

I don't believe I ever got an email about this (I may have, I'll have to look).

However, I got this offer when visiting their site while I was signed in to my account. I never got the notifications of the credit after I completed each of the 3 requirements of the offer for each respective credit.

I contacted them after the eligibility period closed (7/31) since I still had no notifications, and they asked for a screenshot of the offer I got as proof. I provided that to them and even offered the URL which I had also saved. They then asked for the email I got, which I don't think I have, as that's not how I received the offer (it was directly on the site via one of their popovers). So apparently, I am out of luck and I installed their app on my device for no reason. I've been a longtime prime customer and have gotten countless "Install the app for $10 credit" popup offers before but never bit because I knew I didn't need the app.

Also, it's silly they're asking me for all this proof when, if they had a system that actually provided this data (which they clearly have internally, somewhere), they shouldn't need to ask me for all of these layers of proof, other than looking for a reason to decline to honor the promotion.

It's experiences like this that make me not trust them. There used to be a time where, even when they screwed up like this, they'd make it right. Unfortunately (for me, at least), not anymore.
